Role Summary

The Programme Manager will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of multiple automation projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards.  The role will play a critical role in coordinating cross-functional teams, managing customer relationships, and driving continuous improvement in our project management processes.  The scope of the role will be automotive assembly programs, where it will be necessary to use strong technical and people skills to manage customer programmes from design / concept stage through installation and commissioning of automated assembly equipment.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves but is not limited to

  • Lead launch and buy off activity; organizing programs from concept to production, including customer liaison, design, budgeting and product review

  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with customers and internal stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets, tracking progress and making adjustments as needed

  • Present oneself in a professional business manner at all times, developing customer relationships that provide satisfaction, quality, and company profitability

  • Establish and maintain effective communication with customers, internal departments, and suppliers regarding various elements of manufacturing product design process (feasibility reviews, cost control, engineering changes, continuous improvement initiatives, etc.)

  • Through innovation, coordination and teamwork eliminate customer quality concerns, and tooling build process issues to exceed our customer expectations. Ensure that the corrective actions have been taken, and followed up for completion

  • Act as the main point of contact for customers, providing regular project updates, managing expectations, and addressing any concerns.

  • Drive cost savings activities

  • Estimate and monitor costs and hours to complete programs

  • Develop and maintain a sound understanding of customer's products, specifications, and processing parameters

  • Research new or different equipment and technologies for future competitiveness

  • Conduct regular project status meetings and prepare progress reports for key stakeholders 

  • Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing effective contingency plans when necessary

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree / Diploma or Recognized Certificate of Qualification in a Mechanical trade AND / OR minimum 10 years’ experience in automotive assembly / tooling manufacturing environment at commensurate level

  • Demonstrable track record in Programme Management role with excellent project management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams

  • Knowledge of GD&T / CMM inspection reports

  • Strong technical background, with a solid understanding of automated equipment design and integration

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Auto CAD and Visual Manufacturing System

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software

  • Previous people management experience

  • Previous budget responsibility

  • Prince 2 or other project management qualification would be desirable
