Role Summary

Engineering Manager – Vehicle Integration & vehicle test environment is responsible for leading and developing a team of engineers who establish and provide portfolio of all test tracks and vehicle test equipment used within Magna Electronics. Defines and plans vehicle as well as data collection strategy for customer projects. Performs vehicle test equipment build-up to support system test group and other groups within Magna Electronics

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers who are responsible for design and progamming of startup, shutdown of all vehicle components (car PC, ECU, gateways, loggers, etc). Designs and validates power management concept of test vehicles, cooling concept
  • Leads a team that is responsible for building custom parts which cannot be bought off the shelf. Responsible for finding solutions for any custom mechanical solutions needed for test vehicles or test environment
  • Leads a team that is responsible for defining global tests for vehicle test according to standards (UN-ECE, NCAP, etc) plus customer standards with strong focus on re-use between projects. Executes tests and delivers final test report for all vehicle driven tests within each customer project
  • Leads a team that is responsible for integrating all aspects to finalize the vehicle like mounting power management, complete recording and measurement toolchain, creates a final vehicle checklist which approves the correct design of the cars and its intended function
  • Responsible for defining and planning data collection strategy for different regions for customer projects with focus on re-use. Defines long term strategy in regards to make or buy decision
  • Responsible for leading all global data collection efforts for Magna electronics projects
  • Will be responsible for supporting quote activities for system test for new Magna business
  • Responsibilities include, interviewing, hiring, training, reward and disciplinary actions, and performance appraisals of employees.
  • Will be responsible for ensuring that the team members adhere to GPEP/ME-PDP deliverables
  • Ensures compliance to Company procedures (e.g. Process - Work Instructions) and applicable standards (e.g. ISO/TS 16949, ISO/IEC TR 15504).
  • Resource planning and alignment to ensure that all projects in the department are properly staffed with the right quality and quantity of resource to meet the deliverables in an effective and efficient way is a key objective of this position
  • Work with managers and senior managers to identify and resolve issues quickly within the team project organization. Manage technical escalation paths appropriately. Escalate where necessary for communication of issues, requests for assistance, and unexpected situations

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in engineering or demonstrated equivalent skills. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8-12 years experience regarding Responsibility / Main Activities (listed above) in serial development or comparable experience in automotive (mandatory), ADAS (mandatory); electronic (preferable) industry
  • ISTQB Certified – Fundamental and Test Manager certification is not mandatory but preferred
  • Working knowledge of DMM, Oscilloscope, Video Scope etc.
  • Hybrid, Hydraulic, ECU, or ADAS product/test experience desired
  • Experience with automotive requirements and design preferred
  • Working knowledge of product development and product testing engineering practices in automotive field
  • Working knowledge of ISO/IEC standards
  • Working knowledge of HIL procedures and equipment
