Job Introduction
Reporting directly to the Robotics and Automation Manager. The Senior Robotic Testing Technician is responsible for working with Fanuc robots. Program the robots, conduct testing and ensure the robots run efficiently. Assist project engineers in assessing potential application of company projects and services to meet customer needs and preparing project specified documentations.
Major Responsibilities
- Basic integration and teaching of robots.
- Support Engineering team to conduct robotic and automation testing.
- Create simulations in programs, such as RoboGuide and RoboDK.
- Compile robot OLPs from the simulation files.
- Upload OLPs to robots and setting payload and offset data.
- Step Robots through their OLPs and make corrections.
- HMI navigation and minor programming.
- PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Program I/O systems, such as motion control or robotics.
- Review robot programming with engineering team.
- Troubleshoot service and repair robotic systems, using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems, hydraulics, or pneumatics.
- Collect and process information from drawings, Customers, the Production Team, and Management to develop and program new robotic application processes.
- Communicate effectively with all associates and customers of Magna SCFI.
Knowledge and Education
- College Diploma related to robot programming or 3-5 years experience in industrial robot applications
- FANUC's Certified Education (CERT) program is a strong asset
- Sufficient Knowledge of Fanuc Robot Programming
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Process & Assembly methods
Work Experience
- Hands-on experience in robotics and robotics troubleshooting preferred
- Experience with Fanuc Roboguide simulation tool and DCS settings
- Experience with any of the following: Omron, Allen-Bradley PLC is a strong asset
Skills and Competencies
- Robot I/O capabilities and PLC communication protocols
- Ability to read drawings, manuals, and specifications
- Demonstrable and strong command of the English language in both written and spoken forms
- Ability to program Fanuc Robot both On-Line and Off-Line
- HandlingTool Operation and Programming
- Able to create a Design of Experiment and test plan for product or process validation
- Assertive and self-motivated, able to analyze and prioritize tasks
- Open to new ideas, change and continuous improvement with the capacity to transform ideas into actions
Work Environment
- Always ensure proper use of required personal protective equipment
- Travel as required throughout Canada, USA, and elsewhere
