About the Role

This individual supports manufacturing in the resolution of manufacturing issues and provides manufacturing with tools and technical support to implement new products into production and in the resolution of manufacturing issues.  Provides technical and automation support to enable the Mold Department to independently carry out daily responsibilities and integrate all phases of processes and development with automation and robotic equipment, software installation, software updates, setups, designs and repairs.  Establishes resource requirements and material flow using industrial standard techniques and internal Company standards.  Analyzes various product structures and processes in order to eliminate inefficiencies and reduce manufacturing costs.  Setup and develop molding processes and establish operating procedures. Performs Design of Experiment (DOE) analysis to determine optimum operating parameters to achieve the most efficient cell. Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.  May provide work direction and/or supervision to other staff. 

Your Responsibilities

  1. Develops, evaluates and improves molding processes to include automation where appropriate.
  2. Provides manufacturing with tools and technical support to implement new products and processes into production.  Selects, designs, installs, and modifies equipment and fixtures for new product launches and existing products.
  3. Supports manufacturing in the resolution of manufacturing issues by providing ongoing manufacturing technical support.
  4. Business objectives as assigned by the Manager, supervisor, or authorized personnel. 
  5. Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing programs to meet goals (i.e. successful program launch).  Demonstrated ability to work on long-term assignments, broad in nature, using a high level of originality and ingenuity.  Must be able to develop long-term technical strategies/plans to meet future business needs and growth opportunities.  Must be able to work independently with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision.
  6. Excellent communication/negotiation skills to work in a positive, cooperative way and maintain productive relationships with key functional areas.
  7. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage several large and complex projects simultaneously.  Must have experience with past project financial responsibilities.  Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others through support, training, etc.  Must be able to manage staff toward departmental goals.
  8. Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives as assigned by the Manager, supervisor, or authorized personnel.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  1. 2 years of related experience, required.
  2. 5-10 years plastic process engineering experience, preferred.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; or equivalent. 
  4. RJG certified and ABB Robotics knowledge, preferred.
  5. Demonstrated basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing and other current techniques related to manufacturing engineering.

  3. Must be technically current in machine design and/or equipment engineering as it applies to job duties with strong understanding of controls (i.e. operating logic) and be able to integrate them into process equipment. Must have thorough knowledge of materials, machine dynamics, etc.
  4. Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions to assist in troubleshooting problems.
  5. Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing programs to meet goals (i.e. successful program launch).  Demonstrated ability to work on long-term assignments, broad in nature, using a high level of originality and ingenuity.  Must be able to develop long-term technical strategies/plans to meet future business needs and growth opportunities.
  6. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage several large and complex projects simultaneously.  Must have experience with past project financial responsibilities.  Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others through support, training, etc.  Must be able to manage staff toward departmental goals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to thoroughly research, recommend, and oversee implementation of new materials, processes, etc. and present information.  Champions innovative opportunities to expand the organization’s current and future business.
  8. Demonstrate adequate computer skills using various programs (scheduler, excel, cad, teams, word, other programs as needed)
  9. Flexible hours to support production and company needs.
