Role Summary

Researches and analyzes reliability of products produced by the company.  Identifies trends in product reliability and reports findings to product development teams and Senior Management.  Provides central point of contact for customer reporting of field failures of company products.  Work is complex in character and requires strong analytical skills and a broad knowledge of all company products.  Work is performed under little or no supervision.  Performs other duties in support of Quality Department goals and objectives.  May supervise and/or provide work direction to other staff.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Performs warranty research in all OEM (Warranty Systems) of products manufactured by the company.  Monitors performance trends, identifies specific failure modes and provides reports on trends.  Provides competitive analysis for warranty sharing agreements.
  2. Analyze and estimate cost impact of field concerns and trends in warranty return data from customer portals.  Forecast data into potential impact to the company.  Recognize emerging trends for potential cost prior to cost becoming debit.
  3. Serves as focal point for incoming calls and warranty reports of product defects from OEM Automotive Dealerships.  Identifies cause of failures and determines appropriateness of warranty part replacement.  Alerts task team of failure and initiates coordination with Dealerships to retrieve part from the field.  Works closely with customer to assure customer satisfaction.  Coordinates return of failed part from customer, and forwards part to Advanced Engineering for failure analysis.
  4. Maintains tracking system of warranty replacement parts.  Provides task teams and OEM with failure reports.
  5. Serves as primary analyst OEM warranty system.  Checks system daily and enters part timing and recovery plans as provided by the program teams.  Ensures that team is aware of timing requirements and that status is entered into system in a timely manner.
  6. Gathers and distributes data for monthly quality and warranty reports.  Maintains historical records of quality reports and provides delivery quality data to Customer Service.
  7. Attends technical reviews at customer site on a monthly basis, this includes reviewing returns with the customer present and disposition said returns.

 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree plus minimum four years experience in related field; or equivalent preferred.  Must be able to perform duties with a high degree of accuracy, which is critical to the department.
  2. Completion of OEM warranty reporting system training, with a strong understanding of all other systems being supported.
  3. Demonstrated strong communication skills in order to work with internal and external contacts at all levels within the organization and represent the company in a professional manner.
  4. Must have knowledge of all company product assemblies covered under the warranty system.  Must understand all potential failure modes of the assemblies and be able to interpret descriptions and indications of the problems by the customer.
  5. Demonstrated strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills for successful performance of job duties.
  6. High degree of computer capability.  Ability to analyze data and produce reports including forecasting and financial projections.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision.
