Role Summary

The HR Analyst will assist the local Human Resources team by collecting, compiling, updating, auditing, analyzing, and reporting data in the following areas: Labor, Benefits, Compensation, and Payroll. The HR Analyst will bring deep quantitative and qualitative analytics to make recommendations, and monitor and assess HR business operations. The HR Analyst will work closely with functions outside of HR, including Payroll, Finance and IT.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage functional testing for all HR system fixes, upgrades, patches, and other maintenance.
  • Extract, synthesize and analyze data derived from various systems and applications, in order to develop and report on performance measures.
  • Use data and analysis to identify trends, create and maintain dashboards, design and produce regularly scheduled reports, conduct ad hoc reporting, and monitor data integrity through analysis and audit.
  • Develop and maintain actionable, proactive reports and metrics that offer strategic insights for HR and functional leaders.
  • Detailed work with large data sets in Excel, including generating pivot tables and writing formulas to analyze data.
  • Design any necessary new spreadsheets or documents to calculate new information or to streamline processes.
  • Provide strategic support to HR team in areas of audits or data collection.
  • Serve as a key liaison with third parties and other stakeholders (e.g. Payroll and Finance).
  • Serve as a resource for employees on payroll issues, benefits questions, policy issues, etc.
  • Work with HR team members and Payroll, Finance and IT to ensure accurate, timely and efficient processing of HR transactions, including compensation changes.
Key Responsibilities Continued
  • Administer employee benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance/AD&D plans, 401k plans, flexible spending accounts, voluntary benefits, and benefits related to local laws and government programs.
  • Responsible for system work for all compensation planning, including annual adjustment cycle.
  • Recommend process improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy that must be approved by appropriate leadership prior to implementation.
  • Maintain and develop user procedures, guides and documentation.
  • Perform weekly timesheet reconciliations including follow-ups with managers and employees; collect data for expenses, bonuses, and adjustments.  Perform weekly and bi-weekly payrolls.
  • Participate in case management and the return to work program.  Manage paid time off request calculations and leave management.
  • Serve as liaison to governmental regulators and Magna Services International.
  • Perform other duties and assist other staff as needed.
Key Requirements
  • Associate’s degree minimum; Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Payroll, or Finance; or equivalent highly preferred.
  • Advanced experience in Excel required.  Proficiency in Word, Access, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience in HR and Payroll systems required.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills required.
  • Experience analyzing large data sets required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate with internal and external contacts when performing job duties.
  • Ability to handle matters of confidentiality discreetly and work with employees on issues requiring varying degrees of sensitivity.
  • Must be dependable and possess the ability to work efficiently and effectively in an independent and team environment.
  • Strong commitment to principles underlying Magna Electronics values and management systems.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and data, including eligibility and enrollment rules, and benefit procedures in order to ensure correct implementation.
