Role Summary

Responsible for leading continuous improvement (kaizen) activities throughout the plant and working on the biggest business need for the Division. Develop, implement and support effective manufacturing processes and associated systems, controls and procedures. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for product/process quality, cost, safety and elimination of waste.

  • Manages 5S auditing & improvement activities.
  • Assess the current state of the plant operations; develop future state vision and drive and monitor the implementation plan.
  • Directs and facilitates the ongoing lean improvement process using techniques such as Kaizen, 5’S, TPM, Kanban, Policy Deployment, etc.
  • Mentor/Mentee/Implement/Coach Kata culture at all business level.
  • Value stream mapping
  • Analysis of methods and manufacturing processes for improvement, simplification, revision, cost reduction and utilizing Kaizen activities & driving employee participation.
  • Identify gaps in Best Practice Metrics and then work with all levels of the plant in establishing and executing a strategy for improving them.
  • Streamlining reporting of metrics from multiple sources.
  • Timely updating of all metric reports both digital & physical.
  • Establish plan and subsequent forecast goals; drive team to achieve with either "Just do it", Six Sigma or Lean implementation.
  • Focus Analytical problem-solving skills to determine root cause of issues.
  • Strong knowledge of problem-solving skill e.g., 8D, 5 way, PDCA, just do it etc.
  • Knowledge of shop floor and JIT systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that appropriate safety and ergonomic processes and methods are being utilized.
  • Teach others to lead improvement efforts, including training on effective tools for successful project leadership.
  • Assist in Development, writing and maintaining of JES documents.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Supports and enforces the principles of the Employee Charter, Company goals and objectives, and decisions and policies by taking ownership and communicating these in a positive and supportive manner.

  • Ensures all employees and visitors have a safe environment in that safety and housekeeping standards are maintained; and all hazards, unsafe actions, or unsafe conditions have been identified, corrected, and/or eliminated.
  • Reports injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses and property damage immediately to management.

  • Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Must be within 3 months from completing undergraduate degree.
