Role Summary

The Senior Application Engineer works in the application engineering customer team and  leads overall tasks required to technically deliver projects to production.  The Senior Application engineer must be proficient in all disciplines of engineering (emphasis in vehicle/ systems level, followed by SW and HW), strong in customer relationships, and in proficient in general program or project management.  Must be able to lead a project team.

Key Responsibilities

Support with technical project lead (TPL) responsibilities during the engineering development of application programs with:

  • Lead Applications project team.
  • Apply Magna products to meet customer specific requirements
  • Requirement Engineering ~ Validation/ Verification:  Vehicle level/ System level on the V-Model devedlopment
  • Defect management, coordination, and resolution of SW Verification, Validation, and Quality defects on a program
  • Problem resolution and 8D activities
  • BOM releases and coordination of release notes within the engineering team
  • Customer vehicle management and facilitate vehicle testing
  • Interfacing with the plant on prototype builds and component kitting
  • Tracking work assignments and completion of work packages
  • Change requests and change request implementation and monitoring
  • VA/VE and cost saving ideas during development
  • Development and maintenance of project documentation
  • Launch support at customer manufacturing facility
  • Coordination of Warranty Analysis & Plant returns
Key Qualifications/Requirements

 

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Computer Engineering / Systems Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent 
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Strong leadership and communications skills
