About the Role

This Technical Project Lead (TPL) role is responsible to lead, coordinate, and oversee the cross functional product teams (i.e. EE, SW, ME, SYS, V&V) in all technical activities for the project.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the work of global team members on software, hardware and mechanical product teams and coordinate the work of engineering development teams.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, mechanical engineers, firmware engineers, software engineers, validation engineers and system/feature function engineers within Magna product development teams.
  • Ensures engineering targets (quality, delivery timing, performance, product BOM costs, etc.) for product deliverables are met on time.
  • Direct the efforts of the product team in the development and production release of engineering deliverables in compliance with the product development process and customer expectations.
  • Lead and maintain engineering change management and engineering risk management activities.
  • Monitor and drive defect management to closure and lead the team in disciplined root cause analysis efforts – both technical and systemic. 
  • Support customer presentations and act as the primary product interface to customers on technical topics.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts.  Researches, recommends, and initiates/supports implementation of enhancements to products, processes, and products.
  • Ability to travel when necessary to product development or manufacturing locations.
     

Who we are looking for

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Computer Engineering / Systems Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent

Technical Knowledge

  • Knowledge of product development engineering practices in automotive field
  • Preferred experience working on ultrasonic sensors
  • Profound technical knowledge of automotive electronics products. Familiar with typical automotive OEM requirements

Practical Knowledge

  • Working knowledge in structured engineering and problem solving methods

  • Able to travel (domestic and international) may be needed
  • Able to be self-motivated, tenacious, and determined 
  • Able to work independently with little to no supervision

Computer Skills

  • Knowledge of MS Office package (especially Excel)
  • PLM and ALM tools (Windchill / PTC Integrity)

Language/Communication 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of English (speak & write)
  • Business fluency of local country language (speak & write)
