Role Summary

Scope: Take an active role in supporting Manufacturing Engineering in new launches from design, through PPAP, and into production.  Actively champions special projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in tool design, process development and validation.  This will include, but is not limited to, design reviews, manufacturing feasibility and process reviews, as well as tooling, gauging and equipment reviews.
  • Champion assigned project(s) from receipt of order to production, and be responsible for the quality of the products produced.
  • Champion assigned process design and development projects through prototyping and process trials.  Maintain accurate records of data and information for analysis. (At times, inspect and audit parts before shipping to customer, if required.)
  • Apply engineering principles to troubleshoot and resolve challenges in order to optimize productivity and minimize cost.
  • Become familiar with APQP/PDP, IATF 16949, FMEA, FEA, VE/VA, GD&T terminology and continuous improvement tools through practice and demonstrated hands-on experience.
  • Review and update program/project open issues as assigned.
  • Adhere to established IATF 16949 engineering documentation procedures and ensure information is accurate and complete. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: creating and updating work instructions, issuing Change Notices, creating and updating Process Flow diagrams etc. as instructed by Engineering Manager or designate.
  • Adhere to all established rules and guidelines as outlined in the Unimotion-Gear Employee Handbook and other applicable policies/procedures with respect to  attendance, quality of work, time management and professional conduct in the workplace.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by Engineering Manager or designate
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Enrolled in an Engineering program at University or College or graduated. 
  • Excellent mechanical and manufacturing aptitude.
  • In-depth knowledge of Solidworks and AutoCAD.
  • Sound drafting skills.
  • General knowledge of stamping dies, jigs, fixturing, work-holding, gauging.
  • Demonstrated time and attendance management skills.
  • Exceptional English communicational skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills, be a self-starter and a team player.
  • Computer skills (MS Office, MS Project, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
