Role Summary

Summary of Responsibilities

To support manufacturing by layout verification and certification of parts, assemblies, and check fixtures.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attain annual safety quality and productivity goals - including Quality department assigned goals
  • Perform layout inspection of parts, assemblies, and inspection fixtures and gages using the Coordinate Measuring Machine and appropriate measuring devices.
  • Perform Gage Repair and Calibration
  • Maintain a priority schedule log for all request submitted layouts.
  • Maintain the certifications of all gages and inspection instruments.
  • Maintain a layout schedule for annual checking fixtures certifications.
  • Perform Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (GRR) Studies on checking fixtures as required. 
  • Provide layout support for new program development and validation.
  • Adhere to customer layout standards, methodologies and requirements.
  • Provide layout inspection reports as required.
  • Participate in meetings with other departments to review data and develop continuous improvement plans
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping practices in quality lab and lead by example
  • Promote and facilitate Open Door process, effective communication and Fair Treatment
  • Participate in Continual Improvement activities
  • Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies
  • Maintain the Quality Assurance Department & CMM computer hardware and software
  • Perform other duties as assigned
     

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of measurement system analysis
  • Able to demonstrate understanding of how job performance affects product quality and customer satisfaction
  • Able to work well with others; build and maintain positive Team Member relations
  • Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures and guidelines
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, math data, reports, instructions and guidelines
  • Proficient in using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Proficient in using measuring instruments, i.e. caliper, micrometer, height gages, etc.
  • Able to operate a Coordinate Measuring Machine
  • Proficient in programming layouts using CMM software
  • Proficient in personal computer operation and applications in a MS Windows operating system.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, Team Members, suppliers and customer
  • Able to safely use slings and hoists 
  • Able to maintain punctuality and good attendance record
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact
  • Able to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Able to work flexible hours and overtime
  • Must display a can-do attitude and be able to work and perform job responsibilities with a minimum amount of direct supervision
  • Must be able to understand written instructions 

Additional Information

Education and Experience

  • Prior blue print reading and GD & T. 
  • Prior layout experience using CMM and related software.
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience. Technical training preferred.

Work Environment

  • Primarily temperature controlled layout laboratory
  • The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with Team Members, management, customers and suppliers.
  • Flexible hours and overtime as required
