Role Summary

Summary of Responsibilities
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Lead is responsible for programs at Cosma Casting Michigan and ensuring that they meet all federal and local standards as well as comply with CCMi and Magna policy. The CI Lead will be the key champion with regards to CI, Problem Solving as well as driver of MAFACT at the division level. 


Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow the principles of the Magna Employee Charter
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with all internal customers, plant Leaders and Team Members; maintain positive employee relations; listen to issues and concerns and respond (C48) within 48 hours
  • Lead Continuous Improvement ensuring that all saving items are tracked for year-end budget process
  • Work with cross functional teams including production, purchasing and engineering to ensure business plan targets are met or surpassed regarding purchasing
  • Be in charge of the division MAFACT by providing support to department leadership, and supporting gap analysis as needed. 
  • Ensure MAFACT internal audits are completed on time
  • Work with all leadership to improve processes to improve efficiency 
  • Support the use and development of standard work in production positions as outlined through MAFACT
  • Participate in Best Practice sharing and work closely with engineering to track progress and savings 
  • Provide support in problem solving in both A3 solutions as well as Kaizen events
  • Provide topics of conversation for shift communication and monthly communication as needed.
  • Ensure that all open audit actions from internal and external audits are tracked and closed on time as planned 
  • Maintain confidentiality as required
  • Ensure employee feedback for employee suggestion program is provided in a timely manner
  • Work with owners to support closure of Employee Involvement activities. 
  • Directly supervise the World Class Manufacturing Champion
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications/Requirements


  • Ability to lead culture change
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with overlapping due dates
  • Strong communication  skills in both written and spoken word
  • Ability to problem solve and analyze inputs from multiple sources and people
  • Must be able to understand written instructions

Education and Experience Required

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred
  • Undergraduate degree preferred 

Work Environment

  • Includes office and manufacturing plant
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees of all departments, management, customers and suppliers 
  • Provide support for three shifts and weekend production schedule
  • Flexible hours and able to work additional hours as required
