Role Summary

The function of a Layout Technician II is to run and maintain the coordinate measuring machines (CMM).  Job includes doing necessary dimensional layouts via CMM or other means to ensure customer and Quality Assurance standards are being met and maintained. The CMM TECH II is responsible for THEIR safety and well-being, as well and Teams health and safety, quality, customer, cost, productivity, and ergonomic issues through using the company policies and procedures and the Magna Employee’s Charter as a guideline.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Corporate Constitution and Employee’s Charter).
  2. Perform layout inspections on product, fixtures or dies as required.  This would include first article layouts, gage reproducibility & repeatability studies and capability studies.
  3. Ability to run, train, and program on BRAVO CMM Systems
  4. Ability to run, train, and program on Mercury CMM Systems
  5. Ability to run, train, and program on Zeiss CMM Systems
  6. Functional understanding to support white/blue light Opticell and Optigo Systems
  7. Maintain gauge, checking fixture control and calibration.
  8. Trained and competent to review and approve data for Customer review
  9. Trained and competent to review data and upload to MBUSI FTP site or other Customer sites
  10. Trained and competent to load to MBUSI Factoryworks site
  11. Have all gauges, inspection fixtures and test equipment identified clearly, properly and readily available for use.
  12. All gauges, inspection fixtures and test equipment are to be calibrated and approved at established intervals.

-Must possess working knowledge and understanding of quality systems, standards, and procedures

-Must have strong team-focused, interpersonal and leadership abilities

-Must have excellent communication skills

-Must be willing to work extended or flexible hours

-Must be willing to work in various locations within and outside the facility

-Must be able to pay good attention to detail

-Must possess good human relations, leadership skills, and a maturity of judgment

-Must have good organizational and problem-solving skills.

-Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, -technical procedures or governmental regulations. 

-Ability to write reports and business correspondence. 

Additional Information

EDUCATION:  High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from two year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
