Role Summary
The function of the Lab Technician is to test, adjust, monitor and record all data associated with the control of chemistry associated with the coatings equipment. The Lab Technician will assist the shift supervisor and line operators to ensure all process parameters are being kept during production. They will be responsible for testing and valancing chemistry levels in process tanks. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, draining and cleaning of process tanks, inventory control, data collection and recording, and 5s and general schedule responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support all Kamtek and Customer Quality System initiatives.
- Perform routine maintenance of operating systems as needed.
- Monitor and document all pretreatment and E-coat stages and respond to any alarms
- Daily testing and monitoring of wastewater treatment chemistry and respond to all alarms.
- Assist E-Coat personnel in the cleaning or changing of UF system (change bag filters & clean as needed).
- Perform daily testing and document results on Motor Coat and Wax materials.
- Monitor and document usage of Motor Coat and wax material daily
- Perform an inventory on Motor Coat and wax materials on a weekly bases
- Unload resin trucks.
- Load out hazardous and non-hazardous waste pickups.
- Load empty totes into trailer, unload chemical totes as needed.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Must have good organizational and communication skill
- Must be methodical in testing process
- Must have a basic understanding of computers (Microsoft Office Suite). SPC experience preferred.
- Must have knowledge of bench testing lab equipment
- Must have basic understanding of collection of chemistry data.
- Must be able to distinguish colors and shades for titration purposes
- Ability to multi-task
- Must display good judgement
