Purpose of Position/Responsibility & Authority

PURPOSE OF POSITION:  To provide support to the IT Manager for PC’s, printers, and other general network problems.  Provide support to end users of PC’s, and to learn and understand all aspects of Kamtek Casting network infrastructure under the direction of the IT Manager.

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY: Responsible for assisting the IT Manager in maintaining all scanning devices and user accounts, installing software packages, assist in troubleshooting problems reported by users, adding and configuring network and stand-alone printers, adding and configuring devices on the wireless network, and assisting the IT Department project implementations.

Essential Functions of the Position

  1. Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
  2. Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies (Magna Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employee’s Charter).
  3. Solve day-to-day problems with Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365, VOIP telephones, and network print services.
  4. Troubleshoot network connectivity for wired and wireless connections
  5. Assist IT Manager in maintaining existing user accounts
  6. Change, upgrade, and/or repair computer hardware and software
  7. Assist in maintaining up-to-date inventory for IT hardware
  8. On-site user telephone support
  9. Manage and coordinate the helpdesk function of the department.  Function as a contact for all trouble calls and distribute tasks to appropriate personnel, track task status and completion, and provide first-level response on appropriate request.
  10. Provide regular training opportunities in the use and functionality of the e-mail system by working closely with the technical supervisor to maintain the healthy operation and condition of the email system.
  11. Assume responsibility for special projects when assigned which may require learning new software packages, or company procedures and processes with minimum notice.
  12. Coordinate the cell phone account with the corporation’s vendor and cell phone users within the company, paying particular attention to methods to reduce cost and complexity.
  13. Respond to users concerns.
  14. Assist in maintaining Phone System, including programming, installation, and troubleshooting.
  15. Maintain the integrity of the Motorola DTR550 two-way radio system.
  16. Promotes good housekeeping (5S)
  17. Perform other duties as required.

Position Requirements

 

SKILL (Ability to do the job)

  • Proficient skills utilizing various software, i.e.  Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Must possess good interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
  •  knowledge of Windows 10, basic networking, and personal computer hardware troubleshooting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Some of the physical demands for this position include the ability to lift 50 pounds, standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time, and occasional stooping and bending.

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED

Some of the equipment and tools used for the job are a computer, telephone, fax machine ,Copier / printer, projector scanners, network testers, and basic tools (i.e. Crimpers, wire cutters, screw drivers, etc.
