Role Summary

The person in this role will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Machine Learning team within the Autonomy Software organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aligning the team with the technical direction
  • Project planning (setting milestones, staff allocation, etc.)
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams as well as product management to develop overall project roadmaps
  • Reporting and contextualizing progress to engineering leaders
  • Ensuring software produced is high quality and follows Magna development standards
  • Coordinating with training data collection teams/companies to create and manage necessary training data
  • Experience leading applied research projects and teams
  • Experience working on applied research projects with an emphasis on deep neural networks
  • Experienced with modern C++ language (C++11 and beyond)
  • Experienced with modern software tools and design patterns

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Education

  • MS or PhD in Engineering; Computer Science Electrical, Aerospace, and Robotics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Experience

  • Experience leading applied research projects and teams
  • Experience working on applied research projects with an emphasis on deep neural networks
  • Experienced with modern C++ language (C++11 and beyond)
  • Experienced with modern software tools and design patterns
  • Hands-on experience with common deep neural network frameworks (PyTorch, etc.)
  • Experience with object detection and semantic segmentation neural networks
  • Experience with resource and time-constrained neural network implementations (on-vehicle, real-time applications)
