Role Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for design, development and testing of electrical hardware based on the electrical architecture and the electrical requirements within a project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive electronics development for core automotive radar products.
  • Translate program needs and top-level requirements into electrical requirements. Identify and develop areas of innovation, unique selling points, and cost-saving.
  • Design electrical hardware in compliance with Magna processes and best practices. Perform analysis and simulation as needed. Generate requisite documentation meticulously.
  • Verify electrical requirements at component and bench level testing.
  • Work cross-functionally to represent electrical needs to other stakeholders: RF, mechanical, software, algorithms, systems, etc.
  • Lead electrical subteam as needed within project team: planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting for project-specific electrical activities.
  • Knowledge transfer and support to aid in core radar design handoff to application-specific programs.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Master’s preferred)
  • 8+ years’ experience in automotive electronics design (or in closely related fields). Prefer experience designing for automotive radar (60GHz-80GHz, MIMO).
  • Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory and radar theory of operation.
  • Strong understanding of interfacing electronics with RF elements. Experience with designing boards with MMICs. Experience in high-frequency substrates (e.g. RF laminates).
  • Expert in design tools such as Altium Designer or Nexus, SPICE, Hyperlynx, etc. Expert schematic capture, analog and digital circuit design. Strong in reviewing PCB layout.
  • Expert in interfacing with quick-turn turnkey contract manufacturers.
  • Great with bench equipment like scopes, spectrum analyzers, soldering and rework equipment. Hands-on attitude.
