Role Summary

To assist the Quality Department Leadership and Quality Engineers in ensuring product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Analyze and interpret measured data for tooling, production or customer application including decision making regarding final quality and acceptance criteria and probable causes.
  2. Deploying special inspection processes including plate lay-out and faro-arm scanning to assist in problem solving and confirmation of dimensional studies.
  3. Working with production teams to root cause dimensional issues and support with data and conclusions.
  4. Coordinate with division coworkers concerning dimensional requirements and offer advice and direction from dimensional standpoint.
  5. Identify and troubleshoot quality issues; work with Tooling Team to address daily issues/control plan checks and plan activities to resolve or improve issues.
  6. Enforce Dimensional Inspection processes, including meeting control plan requirements and reaction plans. 
  7. Provide dimensional layout expertise using all available equipment. 
  8. Manage dimensional reporting to support program QE’s in process improvements.
  9. Utilize the tools of APQP (PPAP, control plans, capability studies, GR&R’s, etc.) 
  10. Maintain open communication and provide continued support to Quality and other departments regarding any changes, problems, or special projects.  
  11. Maintain Gage calibration process, gage repair process, and annual layout requirements. 
  12. Organize and Maintain CAD/ECN level to meet customer and TS16949 requirements.
  13. Perform other duties as required.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary education preferred, or related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Statistics, basic Geometric Dimension & Tolerance, Blueprint Reading
  • Advanced CMM Programming skills
  • Ability to understand all forms of CAD Data.
  • Ability to program and inspect using all CMM, Faro Arm, Laser Scanner and Manual layout tools. 
  • Ability to interpret and apply advanced GD&T accurately to programming and validating parts
  • Ability to transform products into CAD data for engineering or manufacturing use via scanning or other programming and layout methods
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers/engineers
  • Ability to program Robotic Scanning Systems
  • Must have advanced GD&T knowledge and how to apply using all measurement systems
  • Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Operate standard office equipment preferred
