Role Summary

Ensure that equipment meets or exceeds OEM requirements with respect to safety, quality, flexibility and throughput. Establish process parameters and procedural requirements creating checks and balances to police conformance. Develop, analyze and implement continuous improvement ideas to meet long term customer required cost reductions and maintain profitability. The scope of work includes all capital equipment and tooling for internal manufacturing systems.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  2. Work with the time to ensure successful project implementation, including timing, concept, feasibility, design, specifications, construction, and commissioning.
  3. Maintains and upgrades Plant Control System software.
  4. Evaluate new equipment/procedure to be used on our lines to improve throughput, decrease downtime, decrease cost and to keep us a world class plant with latest technology.
  5. Review customer quality issues and assist in improving process on line to identify, reduce and prevent repeat quality issues to reach out customers.
  6. Review line downtime issues and assist in improving process to reduce/eliminate downtime.
  7. Improve our controls system to assist/simplify duties for other team members to complete their jobs (maintenance/production/quality).
  8. Evaluate safety systems to ensure a safe work environment for all team members.
  9. Co-ordinate activities of apprentices, helpers and assigned contractors.
  10. Prepares drawings, material specifications to requisition as required by vendors or other departments.
  11. Assist in developing and maintaining preventative/predictive maintenance procedures.
  12. Support creation of cross-functional repairs procedure to equipment to reduce downtime and recovery issues while keeping team members safe.
  13. Travel to vendors for Buy-offs and reviews.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary Engineering education preferred, or related experience
  • Completion of an Electrical/Electronic course from a community or recognized college program preferred

Additional Information

  • Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  • Operate standard office equipment preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience with PLC’s, AC drives, servos, robots and electronic control systems in an industrial environment preferred
