Role Summary

The Engineering Change Coordinator will lead the flow of information & facilitate the execution of the Engineering Change (ECN) process. Including but not limited to ECN’s, Build Events, Special Projects and Mafact within the procedures as defined by IATF/ AIAG/ BGM for the assigned department.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure effective means of communication for distribution and implementation of ECNs and scope related projects.
  2. Compliance to BGM’s ECN procedure to ensure that all changes meet expectations and timing commitments to the customer.
  3. Manage ECN implementation checklist (APQP Process) and Implementation timing for the department through visual management methods such as communication boards and War Room environments.
  4. Set up and lead cross-functional ECN Implementation meetings & content change reviews.
  5. Provide kitting of parts and dressing the assembly lines up & down during build events. Ensure out of production process products are quarantined properly with tagging.
  6. Verify parts as required for SAP and update Excel BOM’s containing part pedigree, revision levels & quantities.
  7. Retrieve CAD models and review overlays of product changes to verify content
  8. Manage ECN timing and coordination of build events with the production teams. (Special tagging, tool/fixture changeovers for special runs, ECN instruction binders, Need to know forms etc.)
  9. Verify production inventory vs. implementation timing is accurate in SAP and ECN forms.
  10. Monitoring production inventory and its tracking (via metrics) to support achieving targets defined for scenarios of build banks and coordinated change events.
  11. Establish and maintain effective communication with all impacted departments as well as outside vendors and conduct all business activities in a professional manner. 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent certification from a four-year college or technical trade school or ten years’ experience in applicable role required
  2. Minimum of 5 years of Automotive assembly processes, welding & stamping tooling experience required
  3. Minimum of 3 years’ experience liaising with outside vendors required
  4. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing environment required

Additional Information

  1. Ability to work & collaborate in a team environment (without managerial authority)
  2. Must have excellent interpersonal skills & utilize effective communication methods.
  3. Detailed organizational skills (meticulous is a must!)
  4. Ability to navigate through fast-paced environment and willingness to re-prioritize to meet deadlines
  5. Proficiency in creating schedules and implementation plans within Microsoft Office work packages (including Microsoft Project for Gantt charts)
  6. Demonstrates clear understanding of automotive key performance indicators used to track performance to criteria
  7. Ability to create visual metrics from raw data
  8. Must have automotive Engineering or Operational experience in material flow and understanding Bill of Materials, Value Streams & Control Plans.
  9. Requires viewing CAD models & overlays – Fundamental experience (Catia, VisView, AutoCAD)
  10. Blueprint / GD&T - Fundamental experience
