Role Summary

•    Support Maintenance Manager in all areas to ensure efficient and safe operation of the Maintenance Department
•    Manage and coordinate facilities staff activities across the shifts as required to achieve safety, quality, housekeeping and productivity
•    Effectively plan, budget and lead the execution of Maintenance Projects including quotes, capital requests, cross-functional team involvement and timeline/resource coordination
•    Assist with the development and achievement of departmental goals and objectives with the Maintenance Manager. Support and participate progress tracking and measurable report-out methodology with action plans for meeting targets
•    Support the department to plan and maintain Service, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance programs on all facility and support equipment
•    Plan and implement Continuous Improvement initiatives relating to equipment and plant improvements
•    Support the department to plan and manage external suppliers for plant and facility maintenance projects
•    Manage scheduled facilities staff across shifts and motive/steer team toward objectives
•    Support planning and scheduling of plant and facility repairs, preventative maintenance and other departmental initiatives
•    Coordinate project requirements with building landlord, legal department, and other external contacts
•    Work with the Energy team to determine cost saving projects
•    Lead all Energy Savings projects
•    Review IoT and Power Radar data to determine issues before they impact Production uptime
•    Attend all Energy meetings and conferences
•    Work with Magna Energy Team to ensure that all energy incentives are achieved  
•    Report on team metrics and activities
•    Allocate internal/external resources to support effective management of the team’s workload for facility maintenance and improvement projects based on requirements and competency
•    Maintain and approve employee work hours and attendance records to support accurate payroll and HR records through ADP WorkforceNow system
•    Ensure external contractors adhere to Plastcoat’s policies and procedures

Key Responsibilities

•    Utilize the employee corrective action and progressive discipline process as required
•    Maintain confidentiality and integrity 
•    Supervise staff within the department, providing training, mentoring and performance management to ensure employee productivity and effectiveness
•    Perform regular formal/informal workplace inspections
•    Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behavior
•    Perform and ensure team performs all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promoting safety in the workplace
•    Train employees on the specific job hazards
•    Enforce safety rules and correct unsafe acts or conditions
•    Be involved in the accident/incident investigation process 
•    Inform Plastcoat Management of any additional training or resources required by their employees to effectively perform their work
•    Adhere to applicable quality systems and IATF16949 standards
•    Adhere to and promote the Employee Charter and work within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Plastcoat Employee Handbook 
•    Comply with the requirements of C-TPAT/PIP
•    Conduct business in an ethical manner in compliance with the Magna Code of Conduct
•    Encourage and support the Open Door Process, as well as the Fairness Committee and Employee Advocate 
•    Ensure that all employee questions, suggestions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner; communicate regularly with all employees
•    Participate in and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
•    Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards
•    Ensure work area is kept neat and organized

Key Qualifications/Requirements

•    Minimum completion of Relevant trades certificate or college diploma in a related field
•    Experience in a manufacturing environment, automotive parts industry is preferred
•    Experience in a leadership function preferred
•    Experience with building maintenance/planning
•    Experience in facilities project planning and budgeting 
•    Thorough understanding of applicable building codes and legislation
•    Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and build effective teams
•    Strategic thinker
•    Results-oriented and able to work under pressure
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills 
•    Computer literate in MS Word and spreadsheet programs
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
•    Strong interpersonal skills
•    Well-developed organizational and time management skills
