Reporting to the Materials manager, the Logistic Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day logistics operations including the receiving, shipping, material handling within plant, warehousing and storage of components. The successful candidate ensures that the customer’s needs, both internal and external, are met through the timely and efficient movement of products and materials in a fast-paced work environment. This role will also ensure the effectiveness of employees through strategic hiring, training, assignment of duties, and performance management.



  • Minimum five years of demonstrable experience in a leadership role within a logistic, ideally in an Automotive environment
  • Diploma or Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies
  • Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals
  • Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems
  • Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent and dynamic situations
  • Ability to effectively lead in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
  • Working knowledge of applicable Health & Safety standards and WHMIS
  • Forklift certification
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of commercial trucking, shipping, material handling and custom requirements required
  • Computer literate: Outlook, Microsoft Office, DDL, SMART, Supply Power, Covisient
  • Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the job.
  • Strong knowledge of TS16949 & ISO14001 systems



  • Drive execution of strategic performance metrics and targets
  • Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of employees through strategic hiring, training, assignment of duties, and performance management
  • Oversee staff to ensure work is being performed according to established company standards
  • Provide leadership to employee through effective communications, support and guidance
  • Monitor employee performance and provide timely and effective feedback and coaching on an on-going basis
  • Ensure that safe work practices are being followed
  • Ensure that all staff under your direction are equipped with and are using the proper personal protective equipment
  • Oversee compliance with company policies and standards for safety, cost control, waste reduction, quality and on-time delivery
  • Oversee departmental outputs, ensuring they meet production schedules, quality standards and customer needs
  • Lead daily safety walks and workplace inspections
  • Facilitate a culture of teamwork across multiple work areas and shifts
  • Provide timely updates to Management as required
  • Ensure accuracy in quantity of incoming and outgoing shipments, their proper identification and  their safe condition of packaging
  • Dispatch and schedule trucks and drivers as needed
  • Maintain and enforce adherence to, material layout locations
  • Create and optimize material handling routes
  • Maintain forklifts and control their maintenance schedules/records
  • Responsible for maintaining government legislated safety and health requirements
  • Enforce company and safety rules, document violations and propose necessary disciplinary actions
  • Conduct safety talks, staff meetings and department meetings
  • Be involved in accident / incident investigation programs
  • Ensure that new employees are trained on department hazards and safe operation of equipment 
  • Other duties as may be required
