Role Summary

The Payroll Assistant / Accounting Clerk is responsible for entering weekly timesheets and assist with processing employee pay using ADP payroll system. 

Provide support to the Accounts Payable & Accounting teams with invoice entry, journal entries, reconciliations & other tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities

- Set up new files
- Verify job costing time sheet data
- Determine non-statutory pay deduction (i.e. LTD, safety shoes, etc.)
- Data transfer to ADP Payroll System
- Verify pay and deductions produced by ADP
- Prepare General Ledger entries of payroll data
- Process and distribute T4 information, and balance to payroll and remittance data.
- Enter and maintain Vacation/Floater days in the Employee Data base
- Enter and maintain weekly and monthly overtime reports
•    Enter A/P Invoices & assist with other related tasks
•    Perform account reconciliations and prepare journal entries as assigned
•    Process Group RRSP totals and reports for Sunlife.
•    Determine statutory holiday pay.
•    Proficiency in data entry and EDI with ADP Payroll Service
•    Prepare Hours and Earnings Report for profit sharing in consultation with Human Resources
•    Purchase all office stationery and consumables 
•    Strong keyboarding skills
•    Basic to intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Word and Excel
•    Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines with accuracy
•    Ability to work as a team member and individually
•    Good communication skills
•    Good interpersonal and organizational skills required
•    Ensure that your work area is kept clean, tidy and organized at all times to prevent accidents and produce good quality products
•    Report all unusual circumstances and actively participate in and support Continuous Improvements
•    Follow all safety rules, standards and procedures at all times in all areas
•    Responsible for applicable QEMS policies, procedures and work instructions.
•    Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by Manager.


Key Qualifications/Requirements

•    High School Diploma.
•    Enrolment or Successful completion of Payroll Administration course.
•    Working experience in Accounts Payable
•    Minimum of 3 years related experience.
•    Typing and computer skills (spreadsheets and word-processing).
•    Proficiency in data entry and ADP Payroll Service.
•    Experience in a Manufacturing environment
