About the Role

Manage effectively and efficiently the execution and coordination of all daily activities associated with the development of functional software, as well as unit and integration testing activities, for the Functional Software Team. Responsible for overseeing all activities of the application software team beginning during the concept phase of a project and extending through the serial development phase to the end of production

Your Responsibilities

•    Manage functional software engineering team for multiple ongoing projects, keeping track of daily progress. Develop, train, and provide mentorship for the team. 
•    Collaborate with stakeholders to generate detailed timeline for software releases for multiple programs. Ensure equipment, software tools, and methodologies being utilized for software development are up current to keep up with the technology trends in the industry.
•    Oversee and manage the local and offshore activities for Application Software unit and integration testing. 
•    Participate in application software issue discussions and present findings to customers (internal or external) as needed. 
•    Provide as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for application software development, implementation and verification.
•    Generate and follow best practices and lessons learned for the Software Engineering team. Follow Magna PE processes for functional software.
•    Create assimilation plan for new hires and trainings for software tool usage.
•    Participate in design, code and test case reviews as needed by the team. 
•    Keep abreast of new technology trends, resource trends and market demand for new products/projects.

Who we are looking for

Manager, Functional Software

Your preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred 
  • 10+ years of related experience in design, development, unit and integration testing of application software required. 
  • Experience in developing controls/functional software of powertrain systems required. 
  • Experience developing/training less experienced team members preferred. 
  • Proven ability to work with cross functional team members 
  • Strong product development, planning, and analytical skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as teamwork skills.
