Network Engineer - Fortigate

Role Summary

The Network Engineer will report to the regional Network Services Manager, working under the general direction of the Senior Manager of Network Services. The candidate for this job and his/her team members are responsible for the smooth operation and implementation of network infrastructure and related systems. The position requires the ability to plan, design, and implement firewall solutions in OT area to meet business requirements. 

Key Responsibilities

• Work with OT teams and IT teams at Magna divisions to plan and implement LAN segmentation.
• Design, implement and support Fortigate security solutions in OT environment.
• Work with customer regarding project planning, assist in implementation ensuring business continuity. 
• Collaboration with regional and global network/security teams.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

• Strong understanding of Fortigate firewall deployment and troubleshooting
• Strong understanding of Cisco Switching solutions (LAN) and segmentation best practices
• Practical and demonstrable knowledge in networking and firewalls
• Strong demonstrable project management and communication skills
• Knowledge of switching / routing principals and technologies
• Understanding of IT security concepts and industry best practices
• Knowledge of Multi factor authentication solutions
• Basic understanding of IT business operations/processes

Knowledge and Education

Completion of community college:

• Technical Diploma in telecommunications / computer networking or equivalent

Work Experience

• 5 to less than 8 years of work-related experience
• Practical experience with Cisco routers, switches, and wireless systems (LAN) is a must.
• Practical experience with Fortigate firewalls, Forti manager, Forti Analyzer is a must.
• Knowledge on dynamic IP routing, access control lists, Captive Portal, Wireless Controllers.
• Familiarity with remote access solutions like Ivanti/Pulse Secure.
• Familiarity with Cloud providers (Azure, AWS) is a plus. 
• Practical experience working in a team environment.

In addition, the applicant should have the ability to work under direction, as part of a team, or independently, as required in execution of any given task. The ability to identify the scope of tasks and problems as they arise, assigning relevant priority to resolving issues then taking them to their conclusion is expected. A flexible approach in finding solutions to given projects or tasks is also required within this role.
