Key Responsibilities

Position involves the use of die cast dies, trim dies, and all related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.


Primary Responsibilities serve as technical expert in the die cast area. Support die change and technical challenges in Business Unit One.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary
  • Operate a lift truck and overhead crane
  • Be able to trouble shoot the die cast machines, i.e. castings sticking, core switches, water leaks
  • Communicate with other set-up people, supervisors as to any problems that are happening
  • Report unsafe conditions for employees, dies machines to your supervisor in a timely manner
  • Run samples/first pieces when required
  • Measure gates at part and tool steel vs. prints
  • FPIR and LPIR Tracking/Verify
  • Label sample parts
  • Evaluate sample parts
  • Process compliance:  casting, die lube, plunger lube ratios, cycle times
  • Support Die Sets as needed
  • Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects
  • Operate or tend metal casting



  • Prior experience operating die cast machines and operation experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Able to read and understand written instruction
  • Able and willing to stand and walk throughout shift
  • On-site attendance is essential function of this position
  • Must be able to understand written instructions

Additional Information

Education and Experience


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 
  • Prefer two to five years previous die casting experience
  • Ability to read, write and understand written instruction
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to perform and understand shop math
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds frequently during set up activity


Work Environment


  • Includes office and manufacturing plant
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with team members of all departments, management, customers and suppliers 
  • Flexible hours and able to work additional hours as required
