Role Summary

The Technical Assistant’s role is to define, implement, and continually improve the program management systems that support Magna Lighting’s Program Management functions and user requirements. The individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues in order to maximize and continually improve Information Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects Magna Lighting’s Expectations and Visions/Values through Magna’s Employee Charter.
  • Maintain extremely high ethical standards regarding all sensitive data that you may be exposed to.
  • Analyze, evaluate, co-ordinate, implement, manage and support the day-to-day functions and processes of program management applications to ensure they are performing within predetermined guidelines, limits, and specifications.
  • Continuously challenge past practices by actively exploring and implementing new solutions and methodologies to improve the quality and time to market of our product and services to the company.
  • Define, manage, and deploy projects related to applications to support the efficiency improvements of the organization (Enovia, Power BI, PowerApps, SharePoint sites, etc.)
  • Provide cost effective solutions that properly address requirements.
  • Project manage implementation, installation, configuration, and outside technical support of computer systems and business solutions.
  • Provide first level support as the champion/owner and subject matter expert for applications and solutions pertaining to Program Management systems.
  • Responsible for documenting procedures, problems and their resolutions.
  • Help train and support users on new applications, changes, upgrades and co-ordinate effective training schedules.
  • Both participate in and facilitate departmental cross training on a day-to-day basis to provide the best possible support and protection of Magna Lighting’s operations by fostering a learning environment of sharing project, business, and technical knowledge with all other team members.
  • Ensure project deliverables match user expectations by proactively informing managers and users of limitations progress and/or obstacles.
  • Communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Conduct research into systems related issues and products.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Provide afterhours support for computer/business systems as required.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • University Degree/College Diploma.
  • Experience working in an automotive manufacturing environment in desired.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and organize data, establish relevant facts to draw and implement effective responses.
  • Define and implement program management software solutions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage and prioritize issues.
  • Willingness to incorporate colleague knowledge, suggestions and best practices.
  • Ability to develop and present educational training programs and/or workshops.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able and willing to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • A demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute tasks to achieve goals in an innovative, fast-paced, and often high-pressure environment.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
