PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Maintain and assist in troubleshooting assembly fixtures, performing preventative and predictive maintenance on various equipment to minimize downtime keeping safety as a priority.
RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:
Support installation and modification of equipment to ensure quality requirements are met. Responsible for continuous improvement of assembly lines and included tooling. Support corrective actions to improve quality issues ensuring standards are maintained. Respond to production downtime in a timely and efficient manner to resolve any and all issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:
- Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
- Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies (Magna Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employee’s Charter).
- Assist with maintaining assembly line tooling to produce quality parts increasing productivity and efficiency
- Monitor and maintain good housekeeping
- Tig & Mig welding as needed
- Maintain communication with other team members and support departments
- Work to blueprints, CAD data, sketches, and verbal instructions
- Support continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing processes
- Support and train assembly team members
- Maintain accurate documentation resulting in shared knowledge of issues and lessons learned
- Assist with PM inspections as required, complete with all repairs
- Minimize downtime by effective use of resources including response time, technical expertise, tools, spare parts and external contacts Participate in all Magna and Kamtek required training.
- Promotes good housekeeping (5S)
- Perform other duties as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
SKILL (Ability to do the job)
- Ability to use tool room equipment and measuring tools
- Assist with problem solving and troubleshooting
- Must be willing to work extended or flexible hours as needed
- Willingness to adapt to change and learn
- Must have a basic knowledge of assembly line operations
- Must have basic machine knowledge, able to run tool room equipment including measuring instruments
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Some of the physical demands for the position include being able to lift a weight of 40 pounds; frequent bending, stooping and stretching; being able to stand for prolonged periods of time; and ability to walk for prolonged period of time.
EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED
Some of the equipment and tools used for the job are a lathe, mills, surface grinders, mig welder. Arc welder, tig welder, hand tools, hand grinder, band saw, cut off saw, drill presses of all sizes,heat treat equipment, cranes, and forklifts
KNOWLEDGE
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED required
TECHNICAL TRAINING: 2-year degree from an accredited technical college or post-secondary school with emphasis in Tool & Die or minimum of three years on the job training with heavy industrial manufacturing experience in skilled trade capacity.
OTHER: Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Materials and methods, machines and tools, and practical application of tooling. Basic knowledge in automation.
WORK EXPERIENCE
WHAT TYPES? Heavy manufacturing background or tool & die job shop. Welding experience, die construction, basic machining (milling, grinding, turning), sharpening cutting edges, reworking form steels, tig welding, mig welding, arc welding
