PURPOSE OF POSITION:  The primary job function of a Material Coordinator is to support and reinforce production schedules and customer needs when the primary contact is not available.  This includes any issues related to production shortages, schedule changes, expedite deliveries, customer changes or inventory accuracy.

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:  Responsible for supporting safety, quality, and productivity while adhering to KAMTEK’s plant standards and upholding the Magna Employee’s Charter.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:

 

  1. Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
  2. Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies (Magna Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employee’s Charter).
  3. Support Kamtek initiatives concerning 5S and Lean Manufacturing
  4. Follow proper Materials Management procedures
  5. Use ERP System (CMS) as the Primary means of monitoring, adjusting and trending stock levels
  6. Determine appropriate stock levels and required space for individual parts, create layouts and picking routes for material delivery
  7. Work closely with all departments and groups within the organization that impact inventory accuracy to determine root cause for inventory inaccuracies
  8. Analyze schedule requirements and propose solutions when schedule changes are required, support production schedules on the off shifts when planner(s) are not available
  9. Perform cycle counts as needed to support production and validate inventory accuracy
  10. Clearly communicate all deviations, shortages or overages that occur during the shift and the reasons for the changes to support carrying the solution forward to the next shift
  11. Audit production and scrap reports for accuracy and validating the entries into the ERP system
  12. Create process flow diagrams and work instructions as they relate to projects assigned
  13. Communicate as needed with suppliers and transportation companies to ensure on hand availability of parts and prevent down time
  14. Assist the planners in identifying production and forecast trends to help predict future scheduling needs and stocking requirements
  15. Ensure continual material flow into all required locations
  16. Provide data to Materials team to promote lean inventory levels on all WIP and/or Finished Goods material in accordance to process capabilities
  17. Support Production Schedules for off shift production
  18. Champion projects relating to prototype builds and engineering changes – including but not limited to: managing segregated and/or quarantined inventory, ordering materials and supplies as needed, segregate old and new level materials, monitor build out quantities, packaging and shipping of prototype or project parts
  19. Back up for Shipping Assistant
  20. Accomplish all work assignments as directed by management personnel
  21. Promote good housekeeping (5S)
  22. Perform other duties as required.

 

 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 

SKILL (Ability to do the job)

-Ability to work in a team environment or independently to perform duties with little supervision.

-Ability to communicate with team members on all shifts and possess good mathematical and   organizational skills.

-Ability to adequately perform all above job requirements within the timeframe allotted to support the customer needs

-The environment is high pressure and requires extreme accuracy and attention to detail

-The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with team members, leaders, customers and suppliers

-Overtime as required

-Mathematical skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions; the Metric and Imperial Measurement System; data analysis and statistical techniques.

-Self-starter with the ability to formulate a project and see it through to its conclusion

-Decision making abilities to create a win, win, win situation in support of the three legged stool (Customer, Investor, People)

- Well developed interpersonal, organizational, communication (verbal & written), presentation and negotiation skills

 

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Some of the physical demands for this position include the ability to lift 40 pounds and being able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time in a manufacturing environment

 

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED

 

Some of the equipment and tools used are basic departmental hand tools and personal protective equipment.  Forklift, charger, dock doors, dock locks, dock levelers, scanner and banding equipment.

KNOWLEDGE

 

EDUCATION:  High School Diploma or GED required. One to two years of related experience.

General knowledge of Production Planning, Inventory Control and ERP

 

TECHNICAL TRAINING:  Successfully obtain KAMTEK forklift license. 

 

OTHER:  Safe work practices, general knowledge of mechanical operations. Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

 

WHAT TYPES?  Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.  Forklift operation and product delivery.

 

HOW MUCH?  6-12 months.

 

 

 

WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS OR ABILITIES WOULD BE HELPFUL FOR THE JOB?

 

- Basic mechanical aptitude.

- Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety requirements.

- Good communication skills.
