 KAMTEK is a premier Tier 1, automotive manufacturing supplier that specializes in Class “A” Stamping, Assembly and High Pressure Die Casting that produces Body-side and Door Openings, Roofs, Floor Pans, Wheelhouses, Large Welded Assemblies, Doors, Fenders, Hoods, Lift-gates, Aluminum Shock Towers, and Aluminum Rear Rails. PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

Produce quality parts, on time, the first time to meet or exceed our customer requirements, while supporting the Magna Employee’s Charter and the policies and procedures of Kamtek.


RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:  

Responsible for supporting safety, quality, and productivity while adhering to KAMTEK’s plant standards and upholding the Magna Employee’s Charter. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:

1)    Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies. 
2)    Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies (Magna’s Corporate Constitution, Operational Principles and Employee’s Charter
3)    Follow and comply with all operational/procedures/policies as stated in the employee Environmental Health and Safety programs
4)    Establish and maintain communication with other team members and support departments.
5)    Follow Standard Operating Procedures established for each work station.
6)    Maintain integrity of quality to ensure finished product meets or exceeds Kamtek standards.
7)    Maintain proper documentation of production and inventory using our CMS system.
8)    Must be able to work unsupervised.
9)    Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes.
10)    Monitor and maintain good housekeeping (maximize downtime opportunities).  
11)    Follow all plant safety policies and procedures.
12)    TLCQQ – Tagging Correct, Loaded Properly, Closed Properly, Quantity Correct, Quality Parts.
13)    Must be a team player willing to work on any job or area in which you are trained or being trained.
14)    Perform quality checks as required using QID, QIF, FO/LO Process, and Quality alerts as our guide.
15)    Visually evaluate welds for fusion, porosity, location, size, burn through, notching, or under cut.
16)    Welding techniques to repair the and complete existing welds
17)    Promote good housekeeping (5S)
18)    Perform other duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

SKILL (Ability to do the job)
- Ability to work in a team environment or independently to perform duties with little supervision.
-Ability to communicate with team members on all shifts and possess good mathematical and   organizational skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Some of the physical demands for this position include the ability to lift 40 pounds and being able to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time in a manufacturing environment.

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED

Some of the equipment and tools used are a MIG (metal inert gas) welders, basic departmental hand tools and personal protective equipment.  Also may include computer and scanning.


KNOWLEDGE

EDUCATION:  High School Diploma or GED required

OTHER:  Safe work practices, general knowledge of mechanical operations.

WORK EXPERIENCE

WHAT TYPES?  Previous experience in a manufacturing/fabrication environment is preferred.  

HOW MUCH?  6-12 months.


WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS OR ABILITIES WOULD BE HELPFUL FOR THE JOB?

-Prior welding experience.
-Basic mechanical aptitude.
-Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety requirements.
-Good communication skills.
 


WHAT AREAS OF TRAINING ARE REQUIRED?

New Hire Orientation, OSHA Required Training, Product and Process Overview, Understanding the Charter, Lean Manufacturing Overview, Magna Ethics & Compliance, 5S & Visual Management, Business Management System, KAMTEK Label Standards, Tip Change Procedure, Robot Fundamentals, and Basic Workstation Panel views, Gas Meta Arc Welding training, Scanner training.


HOW WILL TEAM MEMBER’S JOB PROGRESS BE MONITORED FOR COMPETENCY?

Initial welding certification by independent auditor, then annual recertification. Additional Performance Assessment conducted by Team/Area/Dept. Leader.


HOW IS THE POSITION RELEVANT TO ACHIEVING QUALITY OBJECTIVES?

The Cradles Repair Welder will adhere to all company and customer quality systems to create a product that meets customer expectations.
