About the Role

Manage the process of sourcing raw material, components, and services from suppliers based upon best overall value.   

Your Responsibilities

  • Know and understand Bowling Green Metalforming Quality and Environmental policies.
  • Follows and supports and Magna’s operating principles.
  • Develop and execute effective bidding, negotiation and pricing strategies to provide BGM with the best value in the market for the dollar spent
  • Assure on time delivery to help timely program completion and help maximize BGM profits
  • Maintain purchasing and pricing module as required utilizing SAP and other IS systems 
  • Establish solid multiple sources to ensure continuous supply and availability of commodities identified to support the needs of assigned departments in the organization
  • Actively participate in review meetings to ensure the successful launch of new products, processes and tools as required
  • Ensure integrity of purchase orders/records  
  • Reconcile variances between purchase orders and invoices 
  • Ensure the efficient management of contracts, systems and supplier development
  • Handle tactical daily, weekly, and monthly issues with supplier and other departments
  • Work in cooperation with the Quality Department during audits of applicable suppliers
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes
  • Perform other duties as required

Who we are looking for

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field or equivalent experience
  • SAP experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel 
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment 
  • Operate standard office equipment 
  • Must have excellent reading, writing, and spelling skills.
  • Ability to read and understand legal contracts
  • Ability to read component prints and drawings
  • Must have ability to perform true cost analysis, make vs. buy analysis
  • Understand logistics impacts, etc.

These qualifications represent the minimum requirements of the position. Team members will be required to possess the ability and aptitudes to perform the duties proficiently.
