Role Summary

To work safely and efficiently, ensuring set-up schedule and production needs are achieved.  It is expected that there is a commitment for never ending improvements and a positive relationship to fellow Team Members and Leaders, while supporting the Magna Employee’s Charter and the policies and procedures of BGM.

Key Responsibilities

(This job description in no way implies that these are the only duties to be performed in this position. Team members will be required to follow any other job related instructions or to perform other job duties requested by their leader)

  1. Know and understand Bowling Green Metalforming Quality and Environmental policies.
  2. Follows and supports and Magna’s operating principles.
  3. Complete set-up responsibility (i.e. new die set-up information).
  4. Pre-staging of all set-up (tools, dies, chutes, clamping required, transfer fingers, grippers, Julian dates).
  5. Load coils onto mandrel and feed through straightener and into die.
  6. Unload coil truck and log coils into the system / manage coil inventory.
  7. Assist Team Members when coils need rebanding and taken off press.
  8. Establish and maintain communication with other team members and support departments.
  9. Initiate and sustain 5S opportunities.
  10. Assume Press Team Leader and/or Press Operator duties when required.
  11. Supply tool room with necessary dies.
  12. Continually organize die and coil storage area.
  13. Support and assist operations during changeovers.
Key Qualifications/Requirements

These qualifications represent the minimum requirements of the position. Team members will be required to possess the ability and aptitudes to perform the duties proficiently.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Post-secondary education preferred, or related Tool & Die Setter experience in a Stamping facility preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Operate standard office equipment preferred.
  • Certified BGM Crane Operator and Forklift Driver or the ability to successfully obtain BGM certification.
  • Ability to set-up and efficiently operate Aida, Schuler and Danly Presses preferred.
Additional Information

Physcial Demands

  • Office and General factory environment.
  • Able to be flexible in hours of work on short notice in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.).
  • Possible Shift Work.
  • Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time, and occasional bending and stooping.
  • Ability to lift in access of 40 pounds or more.
