About the Role

The E-Coat Process Technician is responsible for performing duties necessary to maintain and improve the integrity of the E-Coat process.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Know and understand Bowling Green Metalforming Quality and Environmental policies.
  2. Perform other duties as required.
  3. Follows and supports and Magna’s operating principles, including:

    2. Abide by BGM policies and procedures as described in the most current version of the Team Member Handbook.
    3. Open Door Policy – Solves issues with two-way, open and friendly communication.

    5. Safety First - Obey the plant’s safety rules and procedures by wearing PPE at all times and immediately addressing all safety concerns.  Promotes an environment where zero injuries are the expected standard.

    7. Core values – Treat all team members equally, fairly, with dignity and respect without favoritism in accordance with company values. 
    8. Attend and participate in Team, Department, Plant-wide and any other meetings as required. 
    9. Conduct all activities in a professional manner and positive attitude with an emphasis on personal responsibility. 
  4. Support all BGM and Customer Quality System initiatives.
  5. Perform routine maintenance of operating systems as needed.
  6. Run the e-coat system (loading racks & put in the correct program, operate conveyors, hoist, pretreatment & alarms.
  7. Assist Maintenance with PM’s, when racks come off of the hoist while in process tanks, and when racks crash in the oven.
  8. Manually drive hoist in and out of bay to load racks with bent post(s).
  9. Operate waste oil system (change bag filters & clean as needed).
  10. Pump trenches in Mechanical Room & Compressor Room on a daily basis.
  11. Change cooling tower bag filter.
  12. Load and unload trucks as needed.
  13. Run waste water system and test every 4 hours / monitor waste water and recirculate when necessary.
  14. Run panel for solvent rub and adhesion on a daily basis.
  15. Perform E-Coat rework when necessary.
  16. Clean and maintain all testing equipment used to test waste water.
  17. Answer quality calls in regards to E-Coat.
  18. Support the engineering team with E-Coat prototypes, packing parts for shipping and buy-offs.
  19. Record production numbers on the U-Drive for an average thickness.
  20. Quarterly Testing - Run corrosion panels for every program and complete an internal/external thickness test on each program.
  21. Run phosphate panel on a monthly basis.
  22. Perform an inventory count for chemicals, etc. on a monthly basis.
  23. Analyze and interpret critical performance criteria.
  24. Administer ISO 14001 policies.
  25. Make recommendations for system improvements.
  26. Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes.

Who we are looking for

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary education preferred, or related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Forklift Certification
  • Climb ladders at a height of 20 feet or more, and handle a drum dolly and maneuver 55 gallon drums
  • Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  • Operate standard office equipment preferred

Your preferred qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Understanding of chemistry to perform EDP/Wastewater analysis
  • Ability to distinguish between color shades
