Role Summary

The Industry 4.0 Engineer will work with crossfunctional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements than can benefit from the application of Industry 4.0 technologies. This will primarily consist of researching potential use-cases that are candidates for digital transformation by analyzing and documenting manufacturing processes and their financial and operational impact in the current state, as well as estimating ROI after implementing improvements.  The Engineer will work with Process Engineers, Controls Engineers, and IT to develop the necessary scope of work, secure OpEx or CapEx funding, and to act as a project manager to implement the collection of data from sources to include, but not limited to, machine condition monitoring data, downtime data, scrap data, variable measurement data, energy usage data, production scheduling data, abnormal event logging and control data, and cycle time data.  The Engineer will also be responsible for analyzing the data after implementation and using that data to suggest operational improvements and measure their effectiveness.

Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
Establish, monitor, and control timeline planning.
Review, monitor and control capital budgets.
Prepare presentations to engineering and management teams.
Work in a safe, organized, effective, efficient, and proactive manner.
Lead the Industry 4.0 solutions implementation for BGM driving standardization in line with the corporate platform.
Participate in meetings to bring together shop floor and manufacturing with IT during implementation.
Creating long-term and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines for projects in Industry 4.0 manufacturing transformations.
Responsible for analyzing the scope of work and assisting in the development of manpower plan requirements to complete projects within time constraints defined in the project timeline.
Making effective decisions and recommendations to leadership when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project.
Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
Works with the IT Manager to create project timelines for design tasks from critical project milestones.
Responsible for leading cross-functional teams. 
Drive 4.0 collaboration within Magna to leverage value from a networked organization.
Stay connected with the industry to ensure that the best in class industry technology is reflected in platform and product strategic roadmaps.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or GED
Post-secondary Engineering education preferred, or related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel 
Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment 
Minimum 1 year experience in troubleshooting, repairing and improving systems preferred
Operate standard office equipment 
Data analysis 
Working knowledge of IT and OT platforms (MES, cloud technologies).
Demonstrate a growth mindset. Possess curiosity and sees failure as a learning opportunity
