Summary of Responsibilities

 

This position is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives through lean systems & processes to facilitate production activity increasing throughput and minimizing system waste.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works independently without Supervision.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Supports plant by recommending productivity and lean systems improvements/initiatives.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Supports Manager in program establishment and follows-up all program stages (timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, final buy-off, prototype programs & engineering changes.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Prepares reports, charts and other documentation required for engineering records and projects.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Prepares drawings and material specifications as required by departments.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must be able to apply standard industrial engineering & Lean Manufacturing practices.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must be capable of handling projects from inception to completion.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Educate and train associates on the ways to improve the company’s products, machines and processes.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Balance work cell man loading activities.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Look into the future of the organization and identify and eliminate short and long – term problems that may occur.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Identify manufacturing challenges and attempt to remove or minimize impact to cost, logistics & complexity.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Analyze manufacturing data and based on the observations, give guidelines for standard operations.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Work towards increasing the efficiency of the manufacturing unit – Reduced Scrap/waste; Improve OA.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Conducts method analysis and improvements to work station design including recommendations to replace equipment.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Conducts material handling and flow analysis, responsible for material flow within the plant, plant layouts, new equipment layout, and warehousing requirements.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Work measurement techniques and applications.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Application of layout disciplines.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Works with production departments and customers to design solutions to improve production planning and product styling.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Recommends changes to simplify procedures and reduce process time.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Recommends the replacement or improvement of equipment with a view to improving the efficiency, ergonomic design or economic viability of our operations.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Develops quotes for capital projects.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Handle confidential information on a regular basis.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Promote and facilitate Open Door process, effective communication and Fair Treatment.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Lead Continuous Improvement objectives supporting the departments and organizational goals.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Identify and pursue cost saving initiatives.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Support inefficient process fixes plant wide – All departments.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Good organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Motivated to excel at job of Lean Manufacturing Engineer, learn and advance.

  • The work environment is a combination of some office and mainly manufacturing plant, and is characterized by temperature extremes, loud noise, chemicals, considerable tow motor traffic and pressure caused by deadlines and interruptions.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings and with employees, management, customers and suppliers
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Overtime as required to meet support of production requirements.
