About the Role
This position is accountable for direct supervision of skilled trade millwrights, electricians, and apprentices in their quality and productivity objectives as set out by management.
Your Responsibilities
• Promote company culture and ensure discipline to all company policies and procedures
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of all maintenance personnel
• Coordinate activities of all outside skilled trades for equipment/facility repairs
• Coordinates the training of new employees to perform all operations and to follow safety requirements
• Maintains time and attendance for all employees, as directed
• Coordinate and track overtime work requirements
• Ensures 5S standards are enforced and establishes team to embrace continuous improvement
• Responsible and accountable to manage, support and provide direction to all staff within the department – including Performance Reviews and Employee Development Plans, if applicable
• Responsible for collecting data related to the overall measurables of the company; benchmarking and analysing these trends and establishing related action plans
• Ensure maximum uptime and operating effectiveness of all production and plant equipment through the timely completion of P.M. inspections, repairs and proactive problem solving
• Maintain appropriate records and data necessary to chart progress of department
• Ensure maintenance of all equipment for optimum efficiency as per design intent
• Ensure maintenance of tooling to a sufficient standard to allow department to produce product acceptable to the customers prescribed quality standards
• Attend and support current activities of all business centre groups
• Visit and inspect (in support of Manufacturing Engineering), as required, new program equipment vendors, investigate function of equipment and provide approval sign-off where necessary
• Assist manufacturing engineering in formulating equipment standards for issue to internal/external vendors
• Provide necessary technical support to cross-functional teams to aid in safe and cost effective decision making
• Track various QOS measurables as established by department manager
• Conduct department meetings with employees and track open issues to ensure timely resolution
• Ensures confidentiality of all company personnel data
• Overtime and travel may be required to support achievement of objectives
• Responsible for the accident/incident investigation program, determine root causes, correct actions and following-up to ensure completion
• Correct unsafe acts or conditions, ensuring all health and safety policies are followed
• Conduct planned workplace inspections, as scheduled by the Environmental, Health and Safety Department
• Ensures visibility and accessibility to employees, by practicing Management By Walking Around (MBWA)
• Meets all department objectives as set out by Department Manager
• Must be flexible to manage multiple shifts
Who we are looking for
Your preferred qualifications
• Minimum certified tradesman (maintenance mechanic/millwright or industrial electrician), or Post-secondary education in a related field.
• Minimum 5-7 years related work experience and exposure to the following disciplines: pneumatics, hydraulics, plant services, building structures, power presses, robotics, and automation.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Must have an exceptional safety record.
• Team leader/supervisor competency training to be completed within six months.
