Role Summary

This position will be accountable to apply business process improvement techniques, such as Magna Production Systems (MPS), Standardization, Magna Operational Principles (MOP), and Lean Manufacturing to the Stamping / Toolroom process. 

Key Responsibilities

.  Oversee tooling improvement modifications
.  Utilize toolmakers and team leaders to assist or complete critical tooling (using a top 10 list format)
·    Manage, monitor and analyse key tasks, activities and cost through the multiple phases of the tool modification process
·    Outline timing, monitor and report (monthly) all activities (internal and external) Operations KPI
Total program costs/budgets
Open issues (tooling related – departmental ) on a top 10 basis format
Meeting report outs
Coordination of cross-functional team responsibilities (internally and externally) for tooling issues.
·    Involvement in customer negotiations
·    Lead Cross Functional Team (CFT) and hold team members accountable to timelines, budget, etc.
·    Manage spare component acquisitions for external stampers(outsourcing)
·    Assist in Departmental Process Changes
·    Maintain electronic tooling records 
·    Provide toolmakers with drawings
·    Meet or exceed budget and improve contribution margin
·    Utilise Company and Customer Timing Plans, Time/Resource Activity Plans
·    Provide guidance to Management in all Program related decisions.
·    Assist in ensuring spares are set to correct minimum/maximum levels
·    Assist is set up of PM for tooling
·    Maintain a confidential and professional demeanour at all times
·    Work in a safe manner at all times including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
·    Abide by company rules and policies as set out in the Employee Handbook
·    Meet all customer commitments and all customer milestones
·    Update Lessons Learned database
·    Manage production and prototype tool repairs on a top 10 format
·    Perform other duties as required

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Accurate selection of resources for program
Prioritize issues and make decisions within the guidelines of the defined business processes
Timely and open communication with Customer
Validation testing that complies with internal and Customer -specific requirements

Completion of community college diploma/certificate.
7 or more years of work related experience.
Tool and Die Maker Diploma.
Experience in the field of high volume production mechanical devices.
Cross function experience, including Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Design and Financials.
DFSS and/ or Six Sigma experience preferred.
Familiar with the following tools: D/PFMEA, DFM, VA/VE, DOE, DVP&R, PPAP.
