About the Role
Your Responsibilities
• Create die layouts and die designs and translate design intent into required manufacturing process to complete a lineup of automotive stamping tools.
• Create/modify surfaces to accommodate spring back and surface changes by using morphing and/or surfacing tools on CAD systems.
• Determine machining process and define areas of dies to be machined.
• Provide technical support to FEA Team / Program Management, Tooling, and Sales Departments throughout the die manufacturing process.
• Maintain documentation record of complete die program.
• Prepare reports and communicate all required information to appropriate parties as required or applicable.
• Responsible for applicable QMS policies, procedures and work instructions.
• Perform other reasonable duties as required and assigned.
• Responsible to carry out duties for Health, Safety, and Environment in accordance with the HS&E Agreement for Employees - Addendum
• Work with Outsource Design vendors / RFQ Outside Design vendors / Source Outside Design vendors
• Drive Customer Design reviews.
• Drive Standard changes.
• Drive Pre-manufacturing review.
• Release All Designs for Manufacturing
• Check Die Designs form external Vendors.
• Design dies internally when required.
• Prepare packaging studies for quote stage.
• Work on all Design related issues raised by the Re-work System.
• Drive on going Improvement initiatives.
Who we are looking for
• Completion of degree or certificate program in Technical/Mechanical Engineering Program or equivalent
• Knowledge of automotive sheet metal stamping
• Full working knowledge of die-surfacing using Catia, or equivalent software
• Knowledge of CAM, CNC machining and die making methods an asset
• Experience in reverse engineering from scan meshes (STL data) considered an asset
• Good communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills required
• Ability to interpret blueprints or die process & solid designs required.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

• Orientation, WHMIS, Fire Extinguisher Training, Smirtware, Tebis, 5S, QEMS, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 Awareness training (see EMS training matrix).
