Job Description
The role of Discrete Event Simulation Specialist combines knowledge about production, logistic, data and process modeling and analysis, and scenario analysis to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and provide solutions to current and future Magna production plants.
What you will be doing:

- Validating and analyzing production processes
- Building Discrete Event Simulation (DES) models with focus on throughput, resource utilization, resource synchronization, constraints, blockage/starvation, process improvement
- Building process charts to represent man-machine/process sequences (Cycle Time Charts)
- Conducting in-bound logistic studies to determine flow, capacity, and layout optimizations
- Conducting buffer capacity optimization and machine/operator/station utilization studies
- Interacting with customer divisions and integrators to collect, validate and analyze process data
- Collecting data to validate and calibrate models

- Conducting statistical analysis of key performance indices
- Guiding and training teams in the value of discrete event simulations
- Advanced candidates will also support DES library development
What you do have to bring in:
-
- Strong knowledge of 2D CAD, and practical experience in line and process layout, lineside presentation
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in Discrete Event Simulation software
- Knowledge of MS Excel and programming languages (VBA, C#, or Python)
- Experience with automotive assembly processes
- Attention to detail
- Reliable, self-motivated, team player
- Organized, with proven ability to work autonomously and under tight time constraints
- Excellent English skills (fluent in spoken and written, presentation skills)
- Eagerness to learn new software and new technical skills
- Understanding and following established rules, procedures and policies relating to the position
- Post-Secondary education (e.g., technical school, college, university, or special studies)
- Valid work permit in Canada, US, or Mexico, and valid documents to travel to those countries
Bonus points for:

- Shopfloor/Engineering experience in automotive production environments
- Proven knowledge of Siemens Plant Simulation or Visual Components
- Proven knowledge of FlowPlanner
- Strong programming skills in Simtalk, C# or Python
- Experience with Operations Management / Production Engineering / Logistics concepts and methods, focusing on efficiency improvement / waste reduction, in-bound logistics, inventory analysis and optimization, route and flow optimization preferred
- Higher degrees of education an asset
Work Environment:

- Office environment with occasional exposure to manufacturing environment
- Hybrid weekly schedule (min. 60% office; max. 40% remote) after probation period
- Project-based environment; flexible hours may be required to accommodate needs of global divisions
- Availability for traveling or working on-site for short periods to Magna divisions
