Key Responsibilities
- Maintain “First in, First out” (FIFO) material handling principles
- Ensure all damaged containers/racks are reported to the Production Lead/Area Leader
- Work as a team with other Forklift drivers to ensure the most efficient material flow
- Responsible for loading and unloading trucks as required
- Working knowledge and understanding of each work area in support of cross training
- Complete lift truck daily inspection and fill out check sheet prior to start of each shift
- Complete all appropriate paperwork as required such as transit log, transfers etc. and enter into computer
- Supplies parts, components, and packaging to appropriate manufacturing areas (assembly, sequencing, etc) as required
- Ensure a consistent flow of process to avoid a slowdown of production operation
- Participate in rotation schedule to facilitate cross training in each area supported by department
- As required, facilitate inventory movement tracking by use of wireless R.F. scanning equipment
- Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promoting safety in the workplace
- Comply with the requirements of C-TPAT/PIP
- Conduct business in an ethical manner in compliance with the Magna Code of Conduct
- Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behavior
- Adhere to applicable quality systems and IATF16949 standards
- Adhere to and promote the Employee Charter and work within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Plastcoat Employee Handbook
- Participate in and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards
- Ensure work area is kept neat and organized
- Perform other duties as required
Key Qualifications/Requirements
EDUCATION:
- Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma
- Valid Forklift Operator License in a busy Manufacturing environment
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 1 year experience as a lift truck operator
- Experience in automotive industry an asset
SKILLS:
- Must have complete knowledge of all programs handled (part numbers, colors, etc.) and containers used for each part
- Must have knowledge of computer system (CMI transactions) and be capable of operating a R.F. scanner
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literate in word & spreadsheet programs
- Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Physically capable of performing essential duties of the job
