Key Responsibilities

•    Manage scheduled Maintenance shift and motivate/steer team toward objectives
•    Manage and coordinate Maintenance department operational activities on the shift as required to achieve safety, quality, housekeeping, and productivity
•    Utilize the employee corrective action and progressive discipline process as required
•    Perform scheduled audits 
•    Maintain and approve employee work hours and attendance records to support accurate payroll 
and HR records through the Workforce Now system
•    Report on team metrics and activities
•    Facilitate a supportive and cooperative team atmosphere
•    Educate team members on current and new Plastcoat policies
•    Allocate shift resources to support effective management of the departmental workload for repairs and improvement projects based on requirements and competency
•    Assist in resource recruitment, planning, training and development of staff
•    Work with the Maintenance Coordinator to ensure adequate supplies and spare parts inventories are maintained
•    Assist other Maintenance staff in carrying out maintenance work as instructed by the Department Manager
•    Ensure maintenance staff levels are adequately maintained during required work hours
•    Engage the team and participate in troubleshooting/diagnosis of malfunctions of equipment, focus on root cause determination and guide permanent corrective action implementation
•    Support planning and scheduling of plant and equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and other departmental initiatives.
•    Enforce lockout procedure and other maintenance-related safety procedures
•    Communicate with other department leads as required
•    Complete and maintain effective documentation. Utilize, and ensure all technicians adequately use the department’s computerized Maintenance Management software.
•    Maintain confidentiality and integrity 
•    Supervise staff within the department, providing training, mentoring and performance management to ensure employee productivity and effectiveness
•    Perform regular formal/informal workplace inspections
•    Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behavior
 

•    Perform and ensure team performs all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promoting safety in the workplace
•    Train employees on the specific job hazards
•    Enforce safety rules and correct unsafe acts or conditions
•    Be involved in the accident/incident investigation process 
•    Inform Plastcoat Management of any additional training or resources required by their employees to effectively perform their work
•    Adhere to applicable quality systems and IATF 16949 standards
•    Adhere to and promote the Employee Charter and work within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Plastcoat Employee Handbook 
•    Comply with the requirements of C-TPAT/PIP
•    Conduct business in an ethical manner in compliance with the Magna Code of Conduct
•    Encourage and support the Open Door Process, as well as the Fairness Committee and Employee Advocate 

•    Ensure that all employee questions, suggestions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner; communicate regularly with all employees
•    Participate in and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
•    Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards
•    Ensure work area is kept neat and organized
 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

EDUCATION:
•    Skilled Trades Certificate of qualification as a Millwright / Industrial Electrician or similar or post-secondary education in a technical field
EXPERIENCE:
•    Experience in a leadership function preferred
•    Experience in automotive industry an asset
•    Minimum 2 years’ Injection Moulding experience
SKILLS:
•    Able to demonstrate proficiency in multi trade functions.  (Electrical/Hydraulic/Mechanical/PLC)
•    Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and build effective teams
•    Strategic thinker
•    Results-oriented and able to work under pressure
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills
•    Computer literate in word & spreadsheet programs
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
•    Strong interpersonal skills
•    Well-developed organizational and time management skills
