About the Role

•    Understanding of Material Flow, 5S, eliminating waste and incorporating these into daily activities.
•    Maintain organization of the Materials Layouts - on the Floor, in Racks, Outside and at the Warehouse.
•    Update and maintain the Plastcoat PFEP/Part Database for all active part numbers, making sure that store sizes are matching the scheduling patterns of the Scheduler and Materials Planner.
•    Participate in and create CI’s to lower the Plastcoat inventory/store sizes to increase inventory turns. Oversee & coordinate the creation of WIP, FG and Expendable containers for new programs, by working closely with the returnable and expendable packaging suppliers to meet all requirements of design and development.
•    Attend all CFT (cross-functional team) meetings for potential changes to packaging.
•    Help in the development of returnable packaging for our Customers utilizing Customer guidelines. Customer requirements must be fully taken into account, ensuring the delivery of a quality part.
•    Creation of Schedule 4’s (capital requests) & work with Purchasing for selection of vendor, while within budget.
•    Prepare and complete all Packaging Instructions. 
•    Maintain Packaging Instruction Database in CAQ – all instructions need to be up to date and all revised instructions need to have copies on the floor.
•    Maintain Customer Packaging websites such as GPP, DDL, CDR, etc.
•    Issue cost forms of new/revised packaging requirements to Sales Dept. for service and backup packaging.
•    Provide ergonomic testing on new/revised packaging.
•    Coordinate the shipment, receipt & tracking of returnable packaging for repairs.
•    Creation of ECN’s for new packaging introduced into Plastcoat.
•    Work with Materials Manager on all Fleet Calculators before placing orders.
•    Provide Fleet calculations & associated costs for New Program Quotes & OEM Capacity Studies.
•    Participate in CI cost savings on current and future packaging.
•    Create & maintain supplier packaging with proper fleet sizes to ensure compliance to Plastcoat standards.
•    Work closely with shipping department to supply required shipping forms, delivery schedules and coordination of shipping activities in regards to packaging.
•    Submit all Plastcoat-owned returnable packaging for complete shaker test analysis.  Review all quality concerns before and after testing with Quality department.
•    Ensure packaging is designed to be manufactured in accordance with Federal and Provincial Laws and that they adhere to Customer (OEM) Environmental Safety Standards.
•    Travel to and from packaging trials, warehouse, etc.
•    Spend time on the shop floor reviewing trials, potential packaging issues, ideas for savings/5S.

•    Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards.
•    Ensure work area is kept neat and organized.
•    Perform other duties as required
 

Who we are looking for

•    Familiarity with basic manufacturing processes involved in automotive industry
•    Good verbal and written communication skills 
•    Computer literate in word & spreadsheet programs
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
•    Strong interpersonal skills
•    Well-developed organizational and time management skills
 

Your preferred qualifications

EDUCATION:
•    Minimum completion of college diploma and/or manufacturing experience or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
•    Customer quoting procedures, injection moulding understanding and knowledge of packaging ergonomics
•    Minimum 2 years in a manufacturing facility, automotive would be an asset
