Role Summary

MASSIV Automated Systems,  an advanced technology based division of Magna International Inc., specializes in the design and build of automated / robotic assembly lines for the automotive industry.   Our areas of expertise include hemming (robotic and table top), laser welding, and assembly line welding.  Our customers include other divisions within Magna and the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as General Motors, Chrysler and Ford.

We are a true global supplier to the automotive industry!  Our assembly lines provide a diverse range of automotive products such as doors, hoods, liftgates and underbody parts to customers in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Asia and Europe.

The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to the Purchasing Manager. 


Key Responsibilities

Assist Purchasing Manager with processing receiving documents and updating Bill of Materials
• Maintain filing on a daily basis
• Expedite P.O. back orders
• Handle inquiries from shop floor employees, accounting department, suppliers and engineers, in a timely and professional manner
• Send RFQs, issue P.O. numbers, enter in computer, print out, send original P.O. to vendor, distribute copy of P.O. to accounting and receiving without delay
• Report to Purchasing Manager any problems with purchase orders immediately
• Negotiate with suppliers for best possible price, quality and services
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Key Qualifications/Requirements

• 3 years purchasing experience, preferably in automotive industry
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and Visual Manufacturing System
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to work as a team member and individually
• Ability to manage tasks and effectively prioritize as deadlines are required
