Role Summary

•    Perform safety check of Crane and update the check sheet
•    Perform set-up and start-up/shutdown of molding machine and auxiliary equipment as per master setup.  This also includes:  EOAT installation and all aux equipment
•    Responsible for last part to first part mold changes (including some limited process work)
•    Alert Process Technicians if machine or tool is not functioning properly, or if Process/Set-up sheets are not updated or are inaccurate
•    Prepare tool and press, inspecting both
•    Follow last-off procedure and assist in first-off procedure
•    Work with Maintenance and Process Technicians to reduce delays in part-to-part mold changes
•    Responsible for the movement of tools from press to storage
•    Move and dispose of set-up waste, clean inside and outside of machine, including surrounding area
•    Responsible for reporting out-of-control conditions to the Area Leader and Process Engineer
•    Responsible for reporting all problems with all equipment and processes, and follow up to guarantee they are resolved by the appropriate people
•    Responsible for taking care of supplies, materials, equipment and tools that are required to perform the job
•    Required to maintain good working relations within your department and with other departments at Plastcoat
•    Communicate with following shift Set-Up Technicians (ie. Mold change priority, etc.)
•    Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promoting safety in the workplace
•    Comply with the requirements of C-TPAT/PIP
•    Conduct business in an ethical manner in compliance with the Magna Code of Conduct
•    Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behavior 
•    Adhere to applicable quality systems and IATF16949 standards 
•    Adhere to and promote the Employee Charter and work within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Plastcoat Employee Handbook
•    Participate in and support Continuous Improvement initiatives 
•    Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards 
•    Ensure work area is kept neat and organized 
•    Perform other duties as required
 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

EDUCATION:
•    Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
•    Minimum 2 years’ experience in molding Machine Set-up role
•    Experience as Material Handler preferred
•    Experience in automotive industry an asset
SKILLS:
•    Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, and basic electrical (as pertaining to core functions)
•    Knowledge of Advanced Engineering Resins
•    Basic knowledge of Tooling functions
•    Good verbal and written communication skills 
•    Computer literate in word & spreadsheet programs
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
•    Strong interpersonal skills
•    Well-developed organizational and time management skills
•    Ability to work independently and in a teamwork environment
