The Global Lead Manager Mechanics is responsible for ensuring the installation, deployment, and execution of globally harmonized engineering methods for mechanical development at Magna Lighting with the aim that our products are developed in time, at the right costs and right quality and meeting the customer specifications.

This position will use change, communication, education techniques to drive a deeply rooted Continuous Improvement culture and drive business value from Continuous Improvement Processes.


  • Planning resources and budgets needs
  • Hiring and supervising staff
  • Create skills matrices, and access company or individual performance
  • Making determinations for equipment and training plans for the assigned resources
  • Development and deployment of a continuous improvement vision and strategy for the global mechanical engineering team
  • Responsibility for the development of global mechanical engineering standards and delivery of process improvement materials to the local sites
  • Global gathering of Lessons learned
  • Responsibility to share globally Lessons learned, to ensure their implementation and application at local sites
  • Revision and updating of core procedure if needed, e.g. PDP
  • Responsibility for the planning and leading of trainings on new Lessons learned, standards or updated standards
  • Execution of audits at the different locations to understand the correct application and use of the engineering standards
  • Development of action plans to close gaps from the audits
  • Assistance to local managers providing a global view of the mechanical discipline
  • Identification of project opportunities while working with various business functions
  • Leading and performance management of the direct reports
  • Coaching of business partners to ensure process consistency through the supply chain especially to service providers
  • Cooperation with other global leads inside the Magna Lighting organization
  • Identification of the "Voice of the Customer" through data collection, surveys, and interviews
  • Stay current with the latest product Technology and Development tools and software.
  • Support New Technologies and VAVE initiatives which are in process
  • Align concepts to Manufacturing capabilities and escalate if alignment is not present.
  • May participate on project teams outside of the functional area as a subject matter expert (SME)


  • Technical background with an Engineering Degree (MS or MbA
  • 8+ years of experience as mechanical engineer for mechatronic components preferably in the field of automotive lighting or comparable areas with progressive advancement in terms of knowledge and responsibilities.                            
  • Keen familiarity with Design Programs (Catia, UG, etc)
  • Full knowledge of GD&T 
  • Full knowledge of statistical methods and analysis of data from capability studies
  • Good understanding of reliability testing principles
  • Experience in simultaneous engineering
  • Experience in communications and interactions with Customers
  • Experience in project management will be a plus
  • Knowledge of Problem-Solving methods (Red X, Six Sigma, 8D, etc…)
  • Knowledge and understanding of Optics and Optics applications as it relates to Automotive Lighting will be a plus
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing concepts as it relates to design strategies.
  • Very good understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM)                            
  • Understanding physical properties of materials and processes used in the manufacturing of automotive lamps or comparable products
  • Knowledge of PLM systems and applications
  • Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills in English

  • Global travels for onsite visits and teambuilding, 10-15% per year
