Materials Team Lead - Midnight Shift

Role Summary

Through effective leadership of logistics Team Members in Production and Shipping, this position champions and supports effective material flow focusing on safety, quality, productivity, morale and company/regulatory policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible to coordinate manpower and equipment to ensure delivery of materials in accordance with production/shipping schedules.
  • Ensure all safety and ergonomic standards are followed including job rotation.
  • Provide training and cross-training of Team Members as required ensuring
  • Cover for absenteeism/breaks as required
  • Initiates, coordinates and participates in safety, quality, productivity and cost improvement projects facilitating or supporting facilitation of small group activities.
  • Maintain daily frequent communication with Group Leader.
  • Communicate with other areas as it pertains to the daily department needs or issues.  Communicates between shifts for assigned Team.

Other Duties

  • Support on-going continuous improvement (kaizen) projects, increase efficiency while reducing manufacturing cost projects.
  • Support operational goals and standards are met and followed, effectively using feedback loops and systems and escalation process. 
  • Troubleshoot daily quality, safety and productivity issues being proactive in predicting abnormalities and finding innovative solutions to correct.
  • Lead ergonomic assessments of team member’s work and equipment and implement countermeasures and job rotation to improve long-term safe working conditions and team member well-being.
  • Participate in setting KPI targets including safety, delivery, etc., as a method of continuous improvement.
  • Initiate, coordinate and participate in safety, quality, productivity and cost improvement projects.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, PPE requirements and company safety policies and procedures.

 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Completion of post-secondary school or equivalent.
  • Proficient computer skills including inventory control systems.
  • Possess valid forklift and related certifications
  • Thorough knowledge of English language both verbal and written
  • Thorough understanding of company product, shop floor material conveyance including work flow, scheduling, Kanban.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment while applying Lean Manufacturing concepts.
