Role Summary

The Robot Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and problem-solving machines and equipment.

Develop and improve programs PLC, Robot, CNC by using software to ensure efficient, cost-effectiveness process cycles.


Key Responsibilities


  • Responsible for maintaining and modifying existing systems.
  • Experience in PLC logic and programming with Allen Bradley and Omron PLCs an asset.
  • Must conduct functionality tests of equipment, as well as installation and repairs.
  • Set-up, adjust and troubleshoots machines to ensure that parts are produced according to quality and cycle time requirements.
  • Monitor all programs to make sure they follow their intended task safely and successfully.
  • Ensure that all set-ups and repairs are done in a manner that will ensure the Company’s objectives with respect to minimizing downtime and scrap.
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in machinery installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Support other departments in the resolution of quality and productivity issues.
  • Work comfortably with sometimes very tight timelines, and able to plan and stick to the plan.
  • Make programs or changes based on verbal instructions, data, or drawings.

  • Check completed programs by running simulations, tests, or measurements.
  • Determine best sequence of operations by analyzing job order and perform necessary calculations. PLC or Robot.
  • Analyze and select appropriate speeds and cutting tools when programming CNC machines.
  • Share work knowledge and provide training for members of the team.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping (5S) at all times.
  • Participate in team problem solving, preventative/corrective action and on-going continuous improvements as required.
  • Responsible for encouraging teams to develop new ways to improve quality and productivity.
  • Must adhere to Rollstamp safety policies and procedures.

Key Qualifications/Requirements


  • Minimum two years’ experience.
  • Robotic diploma, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Must have proven experience with Fanuc robots.
  • Experience with PLC Programming (Allen Bradley, Omron, etc) and robotic an asset.
  • Effective communication skills and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and energetic, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of other number systems such as HEX, BCD, ASCI, and other data types.
  • A good understanding of VFD drives, servos, and steppers.
  • Knowledge of Festo and SMC drives and stepper controls an asset.
  • Must have the ability to read blueprints.
  • Must have strong computer skills.
  • Able to collect, analyze and communicate date and information in an effective, professional manner to floor workers as well as upper Management.
  • Ability to work proactively with very little or no direct supervision.
  • Must be fluent in English and maintain a co-operative and positive manner with other staff members in a team spirited environment.
