Role Summary

This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for the general and specific job duties as described below:

General Job Duties

  • The hours for this position are for an off-shift working in a 3rd shift capacity (Wednesday - Wednesday approximately 6pm - 6am). The shift works seven days in a row followed by seven days off. 

Specific Job Duties

  • Follow safety rules of Decostar.
  • Report all accidents immediately.
  • Cooperate with OSHA inspectors.
  • Properly trained on any machinery or equipment.
  • Do no use, operate or make changes to any equipment that may endanger anyone.
  • Repair and maintain all equipment.
  • Perform all daily maintenance on electrostatic spray guns, pumps, chillers, air compressors, conveyors, heat exchangers, robots, motors, and other electronic equipment to ensure optimum performance and utilization.
  • Inspect all machinery for issues in accordance with the preventative maintenance program.
  • Order appropriate parts and fluids as needed. 
  • Determine reasons and corrective actions for equipment failures.
  • Fabricate equipment components using machine tools as required.
  • Troubleshoot and repair all systems in the department.
  • Execute lock out / tag out procedures.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of a CMMS.
  • Maintain a high departmental standard of cleanliness

Skills and Experience Required

  • Six years related work experience preferably in the automotive industry or manufacturing environment
  • Previous automotive finishing and robotic experience required
  • Mechanical and electrical experience with industrial control an asset.
  • Computer technology and programming an asset.


•    Associated Degree or Technical Diploma in a related field is desired

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while standing or walking a minimum of eight (8) hours, this includes walking up and down stairs frequently. 
  • The ability to lift up to 20 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis is required. 
  • Perform work that is below the knees and above the shoulders. 
  • Twisting and bending with the back, while holding ten (10) pounds will be required to move parts from the line. 
  • Capable of performing repetitive motion at, above and below shoulder height for up to six (6) hours a day. 
  • This position requires working with small hand tools and small parts requiring hand strength and dexterity. 
  • Be able to work with or near alcohols, solvent, paints, or plastic sanding dust and be able to wear a respirator if needed. 
  • Good vision at a close distance and the ability to distinguish color is required with or without the use of corrective lenses. 
  • Have the ability to hear alarms with or with out the use of hearing aids.
