Role Summary

This night shift position reports directly to the Molding Department Maintenance Manager and is responsible for the general and specific job duties of Decostar as described below:

General Job Duties

  • Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set good workplace standards and ensure all employees maintain those standards.
  • To follow safety rules of Decostar and work in a manner that is conducive to maintaining a safe and healthful workplace including:  training of new employees, reporting unsafe acts or conditions and correcting or commending health and safety performance.
  • Ensure that all accidents or injuries are reported immediately and actively participate in the accident investigation and completion of all open action items.
  • Ensure that you follow company policies and business objectives in the daily supervision of the operations of the company.

  • This is a night shift position schedule to work Sunday - Thursday from 9pm - 7am with on call hours between 6pm - 6am as needed. 

Specific Job Duties

  • Responsible for the operation, direction, and supervisory duties of the Molding Maintenance Department encompassing RIM and IMM.
  • Update (as needed) the Preventive Maintenance program to meet or exceed the Molding performance goals and ensure the PM steps accomplish equipment uptime KOI goals.
  • Audit the maintenance equipment PM program on a random rotating monthly schedule to ensure PM work orders are being completed and followed up on in a satisfactory manner.
  • Participate in the cross-functional team for the purchase of new equipment for the launch of new programs, etc.  Oversee the installation of equipment, commission and complete customer sign-off process.
  • Work towards reducing maintenance costs on an annual basis.
  • Measure the success of the molding maintenance team through performance evaluations, maintenance KOI metrics and skill training with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Support trend analysis on equipment in order to identify high risk maintenance items and determine cause of equipment failures through defect analysis.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities of the mold maintenance team for reducing maintenance downtime and optimize the statistical capability of molding process equipment currently monitored by the process control team.
  • For subcontracted services, assist in development of a supplier base that can react to the needs of the Molding Department to minimize downtime in emergency situation based on using lead-time and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure all machinery, equipment, building structures and facilities are maintained and functioning properly at all times.
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as interfacing with the process control team and react to urgent requests that could impact production. 
  • Prioritize maintenance requests; distribute daily job assignments through the shift team leaders, review maintenance shift reports to follow up on open issues.
  • Daily supervisory responsibilities of the molding maintenance team to include hands – on support during down time events.
  • Coordinate any necessary tools, parts and equipment that supports various departments in Decostar.
  • Coordinate activities of contractors performing work on-site within the molding department.
  • Develop maintenance procedures compliant with all health, safety and environmental regulatory guidelines of local, state and federal agencies.
  • Maintain QS-9000/TS16949 procedures as they relate to maintenance requirements and documentation thereof.
  • Ensure that all accidents are properly reported and accident investigations are completed within 24 hours.
  • Position will require being on call to support maintenance team leads on off shifts and weekends.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education, Skills, & Experience

  • Associate’s Degree or completed apprenticeship program in a related field of study required.  Six years work related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.  Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will be considered.
  • Basic computer knowledge an asset.
  • Engineering degree not required but would be an asset
  • Minimum six years maintenance experience in a molding operation.
  • Minimum two years in a supervisory position.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, highly organized, great communication and interpersonal skills
