About the Role

This position reports directly to the Inside Paint Manager and is responsible for the general and specific job duties of Decostar as described below:

General Job Duties:

•    To exhibit an objective, fair and professional attitude that exemplifies the principles outlined in The MAGNA Employee’s Charter to maintain a positive and productive workplace.

•    Ensure that you follow company policies and business objectives in the daily supervision of the operations of the company.

•    To support all customer quality standards as well as the standards of Decostar.
•    To perform daily cross-functional job assignments as required and per the department’s established procedures and work instructions.
•    Ensure a spirit of respect, cooperation, ethical conduct and fair dealing in all our operations between our internal, external customers and suppliers.

Your Responsibilities

•    To follow safety rules of Decostar and work in a manner that is conducive to maintaining a safe and healthful workplace.
•    To Understand the employee’s rights under the OSHA Act, EEOC, FLSA and do not allow for discrimination against any employee exercising their rights.
•    Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set good workplace standards and ensure all employees maintain those standards.
•    To follow safety rules of Decostar and work in a manner that is conducive to maintaining a safe and healthful workplace including:  training of new employees, reporting unsafe acts or conditions and correcting or commending health and safety performance.
•    Ensure that all accidents or injuries are reported immediately and actively participate in the accident investigation and completion of all open action items.
•    Have knowledge of general workplace health and safety in regards to the general public and visitors to Decostar.
•    Affectively manage all resources involved with paint mixing operations that results in zero downtime and minimal waste directly associated with the running operation of the paint line.
•    Emphasis on safety will be evident in all aspects of the paint mixing personnel, maintenance, vendors, visitors and all associated equipment, tools and systems. 
•    Keep daily operating costs at a minimum by effectively managing manpower, equipment and resources.
•    Cleanliness and organization of the areas using 5s principles shall be applied. Any equipment not being utilized in the immediate future shall be removed and stored. 
•    Hazardous waste and environmental controls in effect and at all times.
•    Paint and solvent tank inventories shall be conducted and recorded at the intervals set to meet business processes. 
•    Coordinate objectives around paint line mini supply system schedule with production control.
•    Coordinate paint material preparation with kitchen personnel adhering to vendor recipe and charge tank sheets.
•    Schedule and coordinate kitchen system flushes and filter changes to ensure material quality level is consistently delivered through the system.
•    Maintenance activities at times will require paint mix room personnel to participate or perform. Personnel must become knowledgeable in the proper operation of the various systems associated with their activities. 
•    Maintain solvent purge tank levels and hydro purge tank levels along with the correct concentration levels through coordination with the paint lab team on daily titration results.
•    Audit and implement systems for batch control and adherence to non-conforming protocols for materials that are not compliant.
•    Support and coordinate material obsolescence to minimize program waste at the end of a colors life cycle.
•    Review and implement CI activities for quality improvements and cost reduction efficiencies including current processes and any future capital or program investment needs
•    Perform other duties as directed.

Who we are looking for


•   Technical background in paint automated systems a plus.
•    Experience with plastic parts an asset and the painting of plastic parts a plus.
•    Minimum two years supervisory experience preferred.
•    Demonstrated exceptional organizational, communication, and people skills.

Your preferred qualifications

•    Associates Degree in an Industrial field of study preferred, five years’ work related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.  Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will also be considered.
•    Operational knowledge of management information systems, use of personal computers and application software.
•    Minimum five years’ experience in automotive industry preferred.
